Mitsui Sumitomo Bank Launches Olive App with New Web Commercial

Mitsui Sumitomo Bank Unveils New 'Olive' Web Commercial

Mitsui Sumitomo Bank has recently announced the release of a new web commercial for its mobile banking service, Olive. This commercial, featuring the popular comedy duo Long Coat Daddy and their member Tohru Dommae, will be available from February 9, 2026. The advertisement is part of a campaign that encourages consumers to reflect on the concept of service fees encountered in daily life, aiming to enlighten customers about Olive's fee-free benefits.

The new commercial begins with Tohru Dommae, a 36-year-old company employee, who takes a moment to question the fees he regularly pays. As the scene unfolds, he acknowledges the value of service fees such as delivery charges, which are a form of gratitude towards those providing a service. However, when confronted with ATM fees and system charges, he finds himself puzzled and unable to identify who deserves his appreciation for such fees, asking, “Who exactly do I thank for this?”

This narrative reflects a common dilemma many experience with hidden service fees, prompting viewers to consider the emotional connection they have with these costs. Through this storytelling, the commercial conveys the idea that with the Olive app, there are no such frustrations to deal with regarding fees, thus offering a fresh perspective on everyday expenses.

Storyline Overview

The theme of the commercial, titled “What Is a Fee?”, presents a relatable scenario through humor and introspection. With a runtime of 60 seconds, 30 seconds, and 15 seconds, it effectively communicates the app's value proposition by showcasing how customers can benefit from fee-free transactions with Olive.

Long Coat Daddy's Profile

Long Coat Daddy, consisting of Tohru Dommae and his partner, took the comedy world by storm after forming their duo in April 2009. They gained recognition when selected as one of the top 50 comedians in the “THE MANZAI” competition in 2014. Dommae starred in Fuji TV's “New Wave 24” in 2016 and achieved further acclaim in the 4th Up-and-Coming Manzai Association Awards in 2019, winning a literary award.

Their performance on shows like “All That Manzai” led them to victory, while their impressive showing at the “King of Conte” in 2025 established them as leading figures in the comedy scene. Their continuous visibility and success in competitions like the “M-1 Grand Prix” (where they reached the finals in 2021 and 2022) further solidify their reputation.
