Vivace and Stratolaunch: Pioneering Hypersonic Flight
Vivace International Corporation has partnered with Stratolaunch, a notable name in the aerospace industry, to enhance the design and construction of vital hardware components for the Talon-A test vehicles, designated as TA-1 and TA-2. These vehicles serve as fully reusable and autonomous platforms aimed at the rapid development and in-flight testing of hypersonic and various other advanced aerospace systems.
In March 2025, Stratolaunch successfully completed its second hypersonic flight with the TA-2 vehicle, marking a significant achievement following its initial hypersonic flight just three months earlier. The Talon-A series represents groundbreaking technology, with TA-2 becoming the first reusable vehicle to demonstrate such capabilities. The success of TA-1 was heralded back in March 2024, where it achieved a series of critical flight objectives, including engine ignition and a controlled water landing after air-launch release. The collaboration between Vivace and Stratolaunch continues to grow as they prepare for forthcoming flights.
Vivace's role in this partnership is fundamentally essential. The company specializes in the manufacturing of specialized propulsion tanks tailored for both space and defense applications. For the Talon-A series, Vivace designed and built the vehicle's complex fuel tanks along with propulsion system pressurant tanks. Each component was meticulously crafted to comply with Stratolaunch's stringent mission requirements for hypersonic flight, prioritizing aspects such as safety and performance.
One of the standout features of Vivace's contribution is the lightweight design of the tanks, which include sophisticated internal systems to effectively manage propellant flow throughout all flight stages. This design ensures optimal performance, reliability, and a quick turnaround between flights, thus supporting continuous testing and development in the hypersonic domain. Each tank manufactured by Vivace played a pivotal role in achieving the groundbreaking milestones of the Talon flights.
Dave Cochran, the Co-Founder and CEO of Vivace, expressed his pride over the partnership, stating, "Talon-A is crucial for the advancement of our nation’s hypersonic testing. We are honored to support Stratolaunch’s development of this world-class aerospace vehicle. With our mission-critical hardware and components, reliable delivery, and exceptional performance, Vivace continues to be a trusted partner across a broad spectrum of aerospace and defense applications."
