Overview of the Initiative
Nittetsu Kowa Real Estate is excited to announce its participation in the latest phase of the Green Circulation Project, in collaboration with the next-generation agricultural venture, BG. Together, they aim to merge agricultural resource utilization with environmental credit generation, guided by the principles of sustainability and community engagement.
The project centers around existing trees found on development sites, focusing on three key pillars: environmental conservation, waste reduction, and resource upcycling. As urban development inevitably leads to the partial removal of some trees, Nittetsu Kowa has developed a strategy to temporarily manage these trees on dedicated plots. This includes relocating the trees either back to the development site or planting them in other projects, effectively turning them into valuable agricultural resources.
Moreover, trees that cannot be relocated are subject to upcycling through methods such as timber processing and community events. This approach allows for the cultivation of a deeper connection with land history and local culture, fostering a cycle of green value for residents and the community.
Collaboration with BG
Central to this initiative is a groundbreaking collaboration with BG, which specializes in organic fermentation materials. Nittetsu Kowa plans to utilize their signature product, “Soil Next,” derived from the felled trees, transforming them into premium agricultural materials that can be employed by local farmers. This innovative approach not only repurposes natural resources but also integrates agricultural activities with the creation of environmental credits named “Next Green Credit.” Nittetsu Kowa will purchase these credits as a way to offset some of the environmental impacts associated with their development projects.
The ultimate goal is to create a responsible initiative that complements their commitment to sustainability. Alongside these efforts, Nittetsu Kowa plans to launch various services for condominium residents, including agricultural experiences and markets. These programs will bridge the gap between living spaces and agriculture, facilitating connections between residents and food producers, ultimately enriching their lives with fresh perspectives on food and nature.
Starting Point and Future Expansions
The project will kick off at “Livio Hikarigaoka Gardens” located in Nerima, Tokyo, before expanding to various other developments under Nittetsu Kowa’s management. The company aims to introduce values of sustainability and community involvement into more residential areas, creating a broader impact.
