The organization has welcomed four seasoned executives to support its ongoing growth and commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare.

New Leadership Roles



Kurt Koptish has been appointed as the new President. He brings a wealth of experience, having led various behavioral health and specialty care organizations through significant periods of transformation. Most recently, Koptish served as CEO of MIND 24-7, a mental healthcare provider. His extensive background includes overseeing operations for over 130 dialysis clinics while at DaVita Inc., along with a notable military background in medical operations. With an MBA from Harvard Business School, Koptish is excited about the potential for innovation and growth at AFC.

Michael Casey takes on the role of Chief Development Officer. With over two decades in development and real estate, Casey has previously accelerated growth for national brands such as SPB Hospitality. His proven track record in delivering returns on investment and engaging strategies will be instrumental for AFC’s future growth. Casey holds an MBA from Columbia University.

“I’m thrilled for the chance to lead sustainable growth initiatives for AFC and make sure our clinics are well-positioned to serve patients nationwide for years to come,” said Casey.


Nicole Strothman, appointed as Chief Legal Officer, comes with two decades of expertise in legal and compliance roles within the healthcare sector. She brings extensive experience in navigating complex regulatory environments and driving organizations through mergers and acquisitions. Strothman possesses both a JD and an MBA, demonstrating her depth of knowledge in the legal complexities of healthcare.

“Healthcare is complex and heavily regulated. I look forward to collaborating with the executive team and helping AFC grow responsibly with integrity,” Strothman expressed.


Sean Mercado joins as Head of Managed Care, where he will oversee AFC's national payer relationships and advance value-based care agreements. With a strong background in orchestrating managed care strategies, Mercado’s addition is aimed at strengthening AFC’s position as the preferred urgent care provider.

“AFC's footprint and mission create a powerful platform to reshape how urgent care fits into the broader healthcare ecosystem,” Mercado noted. “I'm excited to help deepen our relationships with national payors and advance value-based partnerships that put patients first.”
