KAILAS Steps Up as Title Sponsor for FWT China Series, Ushering a New Free Ride Season
On October 14, 2026, KAILAS celebrated the start of the 2026/27 ski season by hosting the BEYOND THE GATE | KAILAS SNOW SEASON OPENING NIGHT in Guangzhou. At this influential event, KAILAS announced its position as the main sponsor for the Freeride World Tour (FWT) China Series, further solidifying its commitment to the freeride skiing community.
Freeride skiing is distinct from traditional skiing in that it occurs on un-groomed natural terrain, where athletes must assess snow conditions, choose their lines, and navigate the mountain according to their skills and risk awareness. The FWT China Series is set to feature four qualification events at the Jikepulin ski resort in Hemu, Altay, Xinjiang during two competition windows: December 9-15, 2026, and February 26 - March 3, 2027. This series aims to connect Chinese riders with the international freeride competition circuit.
KAILAS is not only focused on competitions; its BEYOND THE GATE initiative is designed to foster a broader skiing community. This initiative provides connections between skiers and the mountain culture, professional guidance, and shared experiences. KAILAS works to bring together instructors, guides, and mountain skiers through ski courses, off-piste safety training, experience sharing, and tourism services, promoting safe and respectful mountain exploration.
Last season, KAILAS launched its BM45 freeride collection for testing on snow in Hemu. During the opening night, they also unveiled the TAIGA ski wear range, developed for extremely low temperatures. This collection combines weather protection with thermal insulation, featuring zoned breathability, a helmet-compatible hood, a powder skirt, and RECCO® technology that makes users easier to locate in the event of an avalanche or if they become lost.
To help skiers feel more confident in the mountains, KAILAS plans collaborations with professional instructors and avalanche safety specialists to offer ski courses, off-piste safety training, and opportunities for experience sharing. Additionally, the brand is expanding its destination services in scenic areas like Songhua Lake and Hemu, connecting skiers with local guides and offering equipment advice, courses, safety sessions, and community activities.
KAILAS is committed to supporting the development of freeride skiing in China through competitive partnerships, technical equipment, and on-the-ground services. Their aim is to help more skiers explore the mountains with knowledge, preparation, and a respect for the terrain. As KAILAS moves forward with its initiatives, it is clear that the brand is dedicated to enriching the freeride community and enhancing the skiing experience for individuals of all levels.
