On January 20, Toyama City, in collaboration with Tobu Top Tours Co., Ltd., launched the official "TOYAMA Future Citizen Passport" utilizing NFT technology. This digital certificate aims to attract individuals who love Toyama despite living outside the city and desire to maintain a relationship with the region.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary goal of this initiative is to expand the "related population"—people who have a continuous connection with Toyama. By offering the passport, individuals can receive updated official information, participate in local community-building surveys, and interact with other passport holders. This creates a dynamic platform for engaging with Toyama, enriching the individuals’ experiences and fostering a deeper interest in the region.

Benefits of the Passport Holders

Holders of the TOYAMA Future Citizen Passport will gain access to various benefits, including but not limited to:

• - Two hours of complimentary use of the co-working space “Sketch Lab” (including drinks)

Application Details

The passport is limited to 1,000 issues, and applicants will enter a lottery if the number of applications exceeds the limit. Eligible applicants must reside outside Toyama but have a passion for the city. Individuals currently living in Toyama and planning to move out of the prefecture by April 2026 are also welcome to apply. The passport design features the artwork of Yamaguchi Sapuri, a manga artist and illustrator hailing from Toyama Prefecture.
