Innovative Lost and Found Service Launching in Shinjuku
Starting from July 1, 2026, Shinjuku will witness the introduction of the "Lost and Found Cloud Find" service at key locations including Lumine Shinjuku, Lumine Est Shinjuku, Newoman Shinjuku, and JR Shinjuku Miraina Tower. Operated by Lumine Corporation and JR East Building, this service aims to significantly enhance the experience of those who frequently lose items in the bustling areas that handle over 25,000 lost items annually.
Background of the Initiative
Shinjuku has become a prominent culture and lifestyle hub, directly connected to the station, and has seen an increase in the need for efficient lost item management. JR East introduced the "Lost and Found Cloud Find" technology in April 2026, aiming to improve lost item retrieval across the entire JR East Group. The collaboration with Lumine and JR Shinjuku Miraina Tower is a strategic expansion of this initiative, focusing on improving customer service while streamlining operations.
Multi-Language Support via Find Chat
One of the key features of this service is the Find Chat, which allows all users, including residents and visitors to Japan, to communicate about lost items without requiring any app installation. After a simple verification process through email, users can start chatting directly in their web browsers.
Find Chat supports multiple languages, including Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Korean, overcoming language barriers and ensuring everyone has access to assistance regardless of their native language.
