Uryuyama Summer Park Opens This Summer
This summer, Uryuyama will metamorphose into a lively playground for enjoyable arts and theater! From August 2 to 5, 2025, visitors of all ages can immerse themselves in a variety of stimulating experiences at the Uryuyama Summer Park. This is the second year of the event, which operates under the theme "Making Theater Closer and Freer," featuring a rich array of programs such as theatrical performances, workshops, and behind-the-scenes tours.

Tales, Dance, and Sounds
From August 2 to August 4, experience the enchanting world of traditional Japanese performing arts through programs including Kyomai (Kyoto dance), Noh theater, live music, and more.
- - Performers: Yasuko Inoue (August 2), Chinojo Shigeyama (August 3), Tadashiro Shigeyama (August 4), Manyu Iihata (August 2-4), and Realchka (August 2-4), among others.
Theater Behind-the-Scenes Tour
Join us on August 2 at 11:00 AM for an adventurous behind-the-scenes tour of the theater!

Uryuyama Artsy Picnic
On August 3, bring your creativity for a picnic on the Uryuyama Campus with an artsy twist!
- - Meeting Time: August 3 at 11:45 AM, concluding by 12:30 PM (weather permitting)

- - Eligibility: All ages (pre-registration required)
Map Workshop + Alpha
On August 4, join us for a unique workshop to create a map of the area by recapturing personal stories and memories!

- - Instructor: Takahiro Fujita
- - Fee: 500 yen
- - Capacity: 20 participants (one session)
- - Eligibility: Elementary students (must be accompanied by a guardian if under 3rd grade, pre-registration required)
Theater Performance: “Invisible but Yearning to Hear”
On August 5, enjoy an engaging theater performance suitable for all ages that stimulates imagination.
- - Showtimes: August 5 at 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM (doors open 20 minutes prior)
- - Fee: 3,000 yen for adults, 1,000 yen for children (high school students and below), and others.

Experience real costumes and props from the stage up close! Interact and take photos with various stage items.
Open! Children's Atelier
Parents and kids can enjoy an atelier space for art-making while exploring interactive storybooks created by second-year students in the Children’s Arts major.

A space where everyone, regardless of ability, can play with unique equipment.
Drawing & Picture Book Corner
Let your imagination run wild in a free drawing area alongside staff-recommended picture books.
Additional Fun Areas
Children’s Library “Piccoli”
Located within the university, Piccoli features storytelling sessions on August 3 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM as part of its events.

The Logo of Uryuyama Summer Park
The logo for Uryuyama Summer Park was designed by Shun Hironaka, a graduate of the 2023 Illustration course from the Information Design program at Kyoto University of the Arts.
About Kyoto Arts Theater (Shunjuza, Studio 21)
Opened in 2001 within Kyoto University of the Arts (formerly known as Kyoto Saga University of Arts), this venue is the first of its kind operated by a higher educational institution in Japan. It consists of two distinct spaces: the Spring and Autumn Hall, designed primarily for Kabuki performances, and Studio 21, a smaller theater focusing on contemporary plays and dance. The theater showcases a diverse range of performing arts, from traditional art forms to cutting-edge multimedia performances, promoting Kyoto's artistic heritage and creativity on a national and global scale.
