Groundbreaking Ceremony for Public Housing in Noto Town
On June 21, 2026, Daito Kentaku Co., Ltd., headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, celebrated the commencement of the reconstruction public housing development project in Noto Town, Ishikawa Prefecture. This milestone marks the beginning of a crucial initiative aimed at aiding residents affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, facilitating their return home and rebuilding their lives.
The project involves the development of the first public housing complexes, designated as “Udechi District 1” and “Matsunami District 1,” specifically geared towards those who continue to face hardships in evacuation living conditions. Daito Kentaku entered into a basic agreement with Noto Town in November 2025 to expedite the provision of safe and secure housing for these residents.
In line with forward-thinking construction practices, this initiative employs the Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) method, which is lighter than concrete and significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions compared to traditional reinforced concrete (RC) structures. The CLT construction method also boasts enhanced earthquake resistance and insulation properties.
Each housing complex aims to foster community interactions through the addition of common meeting spaces and outdoor areas, promoting social engagement among residents. Additionally, the design incorporates barrier-free features to ensure accessibility for all community members, aligning with the local characteristics of Noto Town.
Construction for both districts is slated to begin in June 2026, with an anticipated move-in date set for spring 2027. Daito Kentaku has committed to prioritizing safety during the construction process, striving to provide a comfortable living environment and community space that caters to the needs of the residents, ultimately contributing to the rapid recovery of Noto Town.
