Shanghai Electric Launches China's First Heterogeneous Humanoid Robot Training Facility
In an unprecedented feat for the field of robotics, Shanghai Electric has officially collaborated with nine leading research institutions to launch China's first heterogeneous training facility for humanoid robots, named the Humanoid Robot Kylin Training Ground. This groundbreaking center aims to enhance the capabilities of humanoid robots and is set to revolutionize industrial applications across various sectors.
Scheduled for an ambitious expansion, the training ground currently accommodates over 100 humanoid robots, positioning itself as the largest facility of its kind in the nation. The company's vision extends to training up to 1,000 multifunctional robots by 2027, significantly pushing the boundaries of robotics in China.
At the inauguration event, representatives from Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group partnered with the National and Local Co-Built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center and other institutions to expedite research and industrial applications for humanoid robots. This initiative plans to introduce training programs spanning more than ten industries, including mechanical engineering, automotive manufacturing, and household appliances. Through continuous training, humanoid robots are expected to gather comprehensive data from real-world industrial scenarios. This crucial data will serve as a foundation for the development of more accurate robot models at scale, thereby promoting extensive deployment and advancement in diverse sectors.
Since March 2024, the central research institute of Shanghai Electric has been collaborating closely with the National-Local Center to explore real-world applications for humanoid robots, specifically targeting extreme and hazardous environments within the nuclear power sector. The initiative seeks to gradually replace traditional, high-intensity, and repetitive tasks, enhancing both efficiency and safety in nuclear power generation. Such a transformation is vital for empowering the intelligent evolution of the industry.
Following extensive research and cooperative experiments, a significant milestone was reached on December 1, 2024, when Shanghai Electric and the National-Local Center successfully deployed the first humanoid robot for routine operations in the nuclear industry. This robot boasts exceptional features that set it apart:
- - Unique Configuration and Power Control: Designed for optimal performance and adaptability.
- - Data Collection and Training Capabilities: Equipped for extensive data gathering to refine operation processes.
- - Task Execution in Industrial Settings: Capable of inspections and handling logistics in complex environments.
With the successful integration of this humanoid robot in nuclear applications, Shanghai Electric's technical team will continue its partnership with the National-Local Center, utilizing expertise in nuclear power production and technology to further incorporate humanoid robots into the industry. This strategic collaboration is aimed at enhancing efficiency, safety, and technological excellence in nuclear power operations.
Shanghai Electric remains steadfast in its commitment to pioneering innovations that drive industrial progress, ensuring that humanoid robotics will play a transformative role in shaping the future of smart manufacturing.
