Introducing the AQUA MOVER™: A Breakthrough in Portable Sanitation
CALLAHEAD™, a pioneer in portable sanitation, has unveiled the AQUA MOVER™, an innovative product that aims to revolutionize the management of freshwater in portable sinks. Designed by Charles W. Howard, the president and CEO, the AQUA MOVER™ addresses a critical issue in the portable sanitation industry—water stagnation. This groundbreaking system works by keeping water continuously moving within tanks, thus preventing the buildup of unpleasant odors and harmful microorganisms.
The Problem of Stagnation
Portable sinks typically operate using stored water in tanks, making them reliant on this supply rather than a permanent water connection. During intervals between uses, this water often sits stagnant, creating an ideal environment for bacteria, algae, and fungi to thrive. Howard’s research highlights how stagnation can lead to the formation of biofilm—a slimy layer that clings to tank surfaces, encouraging further growth of microorganisms.
Recognizing the potential health hazards posed by stagnant water in sanitation equipment, Howard sought to develop a solution that not only keeps water fresh but also enhances the overall cleanliness and safety of the portable sanitation experience.
The AQUA MOVER™ Design
Inspired by natural storm systems, Howard designed the AQUA MOVER™ to emulate the powerful water currents generated during inclement weather, like hurricanes. This innovative system functions similarly to an underwater fan and is powered by a high-efficiency, 110-volt circulation pump that can move approximately
2,100 gallons of water per hour. By creating persistent currents within the tank, the AQUA MOVER™ effectively prevents microorganisms from settling and attaching to the walls of the tank.
The system’s continuous movement not only inhibits the growth of algae and mold but also helps keep fine particles and minerals suspended in the water, reducing the likelihood of sediment buildup. The AQUA MOVER™ is designed to work in tandem with regular cleaning and maintenance, enhancing sanitation without replacing existing practices.
A First in the Industry
The AQUA MOVER™ is considered a first-of-its-kind innovation, bringing a unique approach to portable sanitation by ensuring the water in freshwater tanks remains in motion. Available exclusively through CALLAHEAD™, this system is seen as a significant advancement in promoting hygiene and health safety for users of portable sanitation facilities.
For more than half a century, Charles W. Howard has committed himself to improving portable sanitation. From the creation of the Portable Water and Sewer System to various other sanitation products, Howard has consistently sought practical ways to enhance user experience. The launch of the AQUA MOVER™ represents the culmination of decades of work aimed at addressing common challenges in the industry.
