Celebrating Young Literary Talent: The 2025 Story Challenge Winners Announced



This spring, Education.com opened its doors to young writers from around the globe, challenging them to unleash their creativity through original storytelling in its 2025 Story Challenge. This initiative, inspired by National Reading Month, garnered an impressive array of submissions, with participants from countries including Australia, Canada, Egypt, Hong Kong, Mexico, Peru, and Spain. The quality of the entries displayed a remarkable level of talent and originality, making the selection process for the winners both exciting and challenging.

The chosen ten winners have each crafted stories that not only captivate the readers but also transport them into fantastical worlds, filled with vibrant characters and meaningful themes. From brave heroes confronting extraterrestrial foes to heartwarming narratives showcasing resilience and family bonds, these narratives reflect the diverse perspectives of young storytellers.

The Winners:



1. Marco G. (7, Spain) - Captain Lentils
This adventurous tale centers around Captain Lentils, a heroic figure who bravely battles both aliens and bank robbers to safeguard Earth.

2. Zechariah F. (7, Illinois) - Samuel the Pea and His Quest for Family
A heart-touching story that follows Samuel, a young pea separated from his pod during the Great Pea War, who navigates a new life while yearning to reunite with his family.

3. Bethany I. (9, Texas) - Clay and the Mysterious Pink Lemonade
This quirky narrative takes a surprising turn when Clay is offered pink lemonade instead of his usual drink, teaching him an important lesson about appearances.

4. Dominic P. (9, Florida) - Homework Monster
A whimsical story where a magical juice turns a student’s homework into a fearsome monster, leading to an adventurous quest to reclaim control of his assignments.

5. Eyas K. (9, Texas) - Life as a Cheetah
Imagining life as the fastest creature on land, Eyas takes readers on a journey through a cheetah’s world, celebrating speed and the freedom it brings.

6. Sanvi K. (10, Canada) - The Midnight Whisper
An eerie mystery set in a rain-soaked New York City, where investigator Lina Rains uncovers chilling secrets guided by a trail of cryptic clues.

7. Eliana T. (10, Hong Kong) - Another Imagination
In a post-apocalyptic world, stranded on Xelvi, Sora encounters a half-human, half-AI companion, as they strive to recover a legendary crystal to grant a wish.

8. Evelyn K. (11, Oregon) - The Stone From the Sky
Jessie discovers a mysterious glowing orb in her locker that transports her into a mystical realm, leading to a difficult decision about trust.

9. Hasitha C. (12, Canada) - The Truth Reflected
A dusty mirror in Charley's attic reveals terrifying visions of the future, sparking a quest to uncover her hidden family history.

10. Rose G. (13, California) - The Perfect Tutor
Relic finds himself struggling in school after his parents' divorce, but with the help of Brielle, a gifted tutor, he begins to see improvements in his academics.
