On May 10, 2025, Kyoto Brewing Company will host a special outdoor event named 'Naminamito' to celebrate its 10th anniversary. This celebration will take place at the Higashi Honganji Maer Shimin Ryokuchi Park, where 21 breweries from both Japan and abroad will gather, allowing participants to enjoy a wide variety of craft beers. Entry to the event is free, making it an accessible celebration for everyone.
The name 'Naminamito' reflects Kyoto Brewing’s ten years in business and the heartfelt appreciation they feel for those who have supported them over the years. The term ‘naminami’ also symbolizes the pouring of beer into glasses, inviting guests to relish in the refreshing atmosphere of early summer while enjoying the finest craft beers.
Among the breweries participating in this unique event are well-respected names that have played an important role in the growth of Kyoto Brewing since its inception in 2015. This special gathering will feature familiar faces that have been instrumental in their journey.
Some of the featured breweries include:
- - DD4D Brewing (Matsuyama)
- - West Coast Brewing (Shizuoka)
- - Godspeed Brewery (Canada)
- - KOBO Brewery (Toyama)
- - Y.Market Brewing (Aichi)
- - Nara Brewing (Nara)
- - Minoh Beer (Osaka)
- - and many others from across Japan.
In addition to the variety of beers, Kyoto Brewing will unveil two special commemorative brews created just for the event: 'Naminamito', a New Zealand Hoppy Pilsner, and 'History', an Anniversary Ale made in collaboration with Luke from Godspeed Brewery in Toronto.
'Naminamito' is a 5.5% secondary fermented pilsner that showcases the freshness and impact of New Zealand hops, featuring tropical and citrus flavors. Its delicate, naturally carbonated foam adds to the overall delightful drinking experience.
On the other hand, 'History' draws inspiration from an Old Fashioned cocktail, combining orange peel aroma with oak chips to create a sophisticated, aromatic experience that is perfect for the event.
Apart from the beers, the event will also include food trucks offering a variety of delicious dishes that pair perfectly with the craft beers, including tacos, dumplings, pizza, burgers, and more. Some of the participating food trucks are OBBLi TACOS (Mexican Tacos), Sunny Day Dumpling (Dumplings), CUMR FOOD TRUCK (Pizza), and Dining Minatoya (Meat Dishes).
Set against the beautiful backdrop of early May, attendees can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, accentuated by pleasant breezes while savoring their favorite craft beer.
The event will run from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and attendees can purchase beer tickets on-site - just ¥800 for one beer, with discounted bundles available. Kyoto Brewing will also sell an original commemorative cup that attendees can take home as a memento of this special occasion.
The venue, Higashi Honganji Maer Shimin Ryokuchi Park, is conveniently located near Kyoto Station. Spanning approximately 9,800 square meters, it features ample open space bordered by a beautiful fountain, providing an ideal setting for a lively yet relaxing beer festival.
As Kyoto Brewing is committed to eco-conscious practices, they will offer reusable plastic cups instead of disposable ones, reinforcing their dedication to minimizing environmental impact. This move encourages sustainable celebrations and allows attendees to take home a souvenir.
