Creating an Inclusive Society for Cultural Experiences for Children

In a pioneering move to ensure children can enjoy cultural experiences, M-Buddy Japan, spearheaded by CEO Moeka Kameyama, is rolling out a new service within the framework of Tokyo's 'TOKYO Culture Debut'. This program has been designed in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture and aims to connect diverse stakeholders, fostering creativity and cultural awareness among kids, while simultaneously allowing parents to appreciate art without worry.

The first initiative under this program will occur at the Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art. Here, children will engage in activities aligned with current exhibitions and art concepts. Tailored for various age groups and developmental stages, activities will explore themes of color, materials, sound, and physical expression. The focus is on allowing children to enjoy their individual forms of expression through creative dialogue and free creation, moving beyond traditional play with toys. This approach emphasizes interaction with materials and improvisation, reflecting influences from European early childhood education philosophies.

At M-Buddy Japan, we believe in prioritizing the emotional experience over the end product. Instead of fixating on 'what to create', the focus shifts to 'how to feel'. This pilot project at the contemporary art museum marks the beginning of a new framework that links cultural facilities with families, promoting a holistic approach towards child-rearing and cultural education.

Moeka Kameyama, a researcher in early childhood education who has studied in England and various European countries, stresses the importance of cultural experiences for both children and adults. 'Meeting with arts and culture is a vital experience for children too,' she explains. 'This initiative not only creates a secure environment for parents to engage with art but also allows children to spend their time in a way that fosters feeling, creating, and expressing rather than merely waiting.' The success of this program is intended to lay the groundwork for broader connections between cultural venues and families, establishing a new societal infrastructure that integrates parenting and culture.

M-Buddy Japan has previously provided value-focused childcare services at museums, classical concerts, and corporate events, striving to increase access to cultural facilities and creating new points of contact with family-oriented audiences. Looking forward, the company aims to continue promoting this unique infrastructure by collaborating with cultural institutions, local governments, and businesses.

Target Audience: This service is designed for visitors of various exhibitions, including the 'Eric Carle: The Very Hungry Caterpillar' event and others.

To utilize the cultural experience-based childcare service at the Tokyo Museum of Contemporary Art, parents must present a valid ticket for one of the exhibitions attended (one per parent). Tickets can include invitations, MOT passports, and disability identification. The official online tickets should be purchased beforehand, noting that once purchased, cancellations and changes are not allowed. Children participating in the program are charged a fee of 500 yen each. Upon reservation, further payment links will be provided by M-Buddy Japan.

Company Overview: M-Buddy Japan seeks to transform parenting into a paradigm shift, offering childcare and babysitting as solutions to alleviate the guilt of leaving children in care by turning it into a 'gift' for them. Headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, they are eager to reshape child-rearing and cultural engagement in the community. For media inquiries, M-Buddy Japan can be contacted via email.

As this innovative childcare service evolves, M-Buddy Japan hopes to inspire a future where parental engagement in the arts is accessible, beneficial, and enriching for the whole family, nurturing a new culture of family-friendly artistic experiences in Tokyo.
