19th National Women’s Forum of Corporate Associations in Hokkaido

On September 18, 2023, the 19th National Women’s Forum organized by the Corporate Association was held with great enthusiasm at the Sapporo Park Hotel, welcoming approximately 1,600 women entrepreneurs from across the country. This annual event, focused on enhancing contributions to both the nation and local communities, saw attendees gather under the inspiring catchphrase: "With Nature and Women’s Vitality, Smiles Abound in Hokkaido - Connecting Tomorrow, Connecting the Future!"

The forum was graced by dignitaries including the Director of the Taxation Division from the National Tax Agency, the Director of the Sapporo Regional Taxation Bureau, and the Deputy Mayor of Sapporo. The event aims to elevate the competencies of its female members and invigorate activities through shared knowledge among participants. The inaugural forum was also hosted in Sapporo back in 2006.

Before the main event, around 90 chairpersons from various local women’s associations engaged in group discussions separated into 11 teams, focusing on themes around creating attractive women’s associations. With growing anticipation toward the activities of these associations, participants exchanged insights regarding efforts to reduce food waste as a contribution towards a sustainable society, reporting on national efforts in this domain. Additionally, discussions revolved around the necessity of increasing membership among women’s associations, sharing various successful initiatives from local corporate associations.

During the ceremony, audiovisual presentations showcased tax education activities and social contribution efforts by 30 women’s associations across Hokkaido. Furthermore, the forum spotlighted the “Tax Postcard Contest” aimed at elementary school students, supported by the National Tax Agency since 2012, displaying the 12 award-winning artworks for the upcoming year. A total of 440 outstanding pieces from approximately 251,000 submissions nationwide were exhibited. The increasing quality of submissions reflected children's creative expressions and imaginative interpretations concerning taxes.

With prominent echoes of admiration from attendees regarding the dedication and joy reflected in the children’s artistic endeavors, the event not only highlighted the importance of tax awareness but also celebrated the vibrant imaginations of the youth involved. The forum encapsulated the essence of collaboration and empowerment among women while reinforcing the commitment to support and uplift future generations.
