In a significant development for local healthcare, three recent graduates of Adena Health’s residency program have decided to stay and begin their medical careers within the organization. This choice is seen as a testament to the quality of training and support provided by Adena Health, reinforcing the institution's commitment to exceptional patient care in south central and southern Ohio.
At a graduation ceremony celebrating the achievements of 15 residents, Jeff Graham, the president and CEO of Adena, expressed pride in the graduates and emphasized that Adena will always be a "home" to them, regardless of where their journeys take them. For three of these graduates, the connection to Adena is set to continue as they step into important roles within the health system.
The Graduates:
1.
Chase Alfman, DO: A proud graduate of Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, he will serve as a hospitalist with Sound Physicians.
2.
Taylor Boll King, DO: After graduating from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, she will work as both an inpatient and outpatient psychiatrist. Additionally, she will join the core faculty of Adena's graduate medical education program.
3.
William O'Neal, MD: A graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, he is set to become the first fellow in Adena's new primary care sports medicine fellowship, an initiative that is expected to have a lasting impact on the community.
The transition from residency to practice is often marked by challenges, but the supportive learning environment at Adena is frequently cited by residents as a major factor influencing their decisions to remain. The availability of exceptional mentorship from experienced physicians and the close-knit community atmosphere contribute significantly to the overall residency experience.
Dr. Chase Alfman reflects on his time at Adena, stating, "The guidance, expertise, and unwavering support of the faculty and staff at Adena have been the cornerstone of our growth as physicians. They have pushed us to rise to challenges and inspired us to pursue excellence in medicine. They have not only imparted knowledge but also taught us the compassion and resilience essential to serving our patients."
Since the inception of its residency program in 2012, which began with just six residents, Adena has witnessed substantial growth. This July, the program will welcome 16 new resident physicians and one fellow hailing from various locations across the country, showcasing Adena's solid reputation and commitment to training the next generation of healthcare providers.
