New Rankings Reveal Kagoshima's Most Happiness-Inducing Cities for 2025

Kagoshima's Top Cities Ranked for Happiness in 2025

In an extensive study conducted by Daito Kentaku Co., Ltd. based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, the results of the largest public satisfaction survey to date have been published. Titled "Good Room Network Happiness Ranking 2025: Kagoshima Edition" and "Good Room Network Cities You Want to Live in Ranking 2025: Kagoshima Edition," this survey has provided valuable insights into which cities in Kagoshima Prefecture are considered the most enjoyable to live in.

Top Cities for Happiness in Kagoshima

For the third consecutive year, the top spot for happiness among Kagoshima's cities has been claimed by Aira City. Following closely behind is Ibusuki City, moving up from eighth place last year, and in third place is Amami City, which has held the same rank for two years. Notably, Tokunoshima Town in Oshima District made its debut in the top ten at eighth, likely due to an increase in the number of survey respondents from last year, while Ichiki-Kushikino City also claimed ninth place after being previously unpublished.

This 'happiness' metric is aggregated from responses accumulated over five years (2021-2025), with adjustments made to include earlier responses (2019-2020) in cases where participant numbers were below fifty in a given year. The happiness scores are based on a ten-point evaluation system, where respondents rated their overall happiness, with scores ranging from 1 (very unhappy) to 10 (very happy).

Cities Residents Want to Live In

Meanwhile, the ranking for the cities residents desire to stay in also saw Aira City securing the number one position for the third year in a row, followed by Hioki City at second, and Izumi City at third, maintaining its position from last year. Minamisatsuma City at eighth and Satsumasendai at ninth, both of which were previously unpublished due to low participant figures, have now entered the top ten.

The evaluation for this category involves asking residents whether they wish to continue living in their current city, graded through a five-point system where a perfect score (100) indicates strong agreement with the statement, while a zero indicates strong disagreement.
