Celebration of Ghost in the Shell's 30th Anniversary with Special Tickets and Exhibition

The 30th Anniversary Celebration of Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell, the iconic work created by Shirow Masamune, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and the excitement is palpable among fans. Starting from October 28, 2025, the committee responsible for the exhibition, comprising Kodansha, Mori Building, KDDI, Production I.G, PARCO, and Bandai Namco Filmworks, will begin selling tickets for the special exhibition "Ghost in the Shell".

Exhibition Details

The exhibition is set to run from January 30 to April 5, 2026, at TOKYO NODE, a cutting-edge hub for information dissemination located in Toranomon Hills. As part of the anniversary celebration, an array of ticket options will be available, including standard admission, three specially designed tickets with unique bonuses, and an exclusive pre-sale ticket that will be sold only in the first three days of the exhibition’s opening.

Limited Edition “1995” Tickets

Highlighting the celebration is the release of the “30th Anniversary '1995' Ticket,” which includes a specially designed T-shirt celebrating the 1995 film directed by Mamoru Oshii. Only 1,995 of these tickets will be available, featuring a design that incorporates symbolic visuals of Major Motoko Kusanagi alongside the exhibition’s logo. This limited edition seeks to captivate both collectors and fans alike.

In addition to the T-shirt, the ticket package will feature other collectibles—like replica film strips from the original 35mm film, showcasing memorable scenes from the movie, and a tote bag adorned with a collage of Kusanagi from all anime series, appealing to fans' desire for premium memorabilia.

Interactive Experiences with AR Technology

One of the highlights of the exhibition will be the introduction of augmented reality experiences where attendees can don AR glasses to immerse themselves in the cybernetic world of Ghost in the Shell. This unique experience allows fans to “DIVE” into the universe, guided through the experience by the well-known Tachikoma from the anime S.A.C. series, enhancing the journey through this captivating digital landscape.

Additional Exhibition Features

The exhibition will not only feature exciting merchandise but will also present unique experiences:
  • - Expanded Archives: The exhibition will showcase over 1,000 rare archival materials, an increase from previously announced numbers, including unreleased original animation sketches and storyboards, alongside a sneak peek at the 2026 new anime show.
  • - Cut Packet Opening Experience: Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the animation production process by opening “cut packets,” which contain materials from the creation stages of the anime. This hands-on experience mimics a treasure hunt, allowing fans to uncover buried gems from the Ghost in the Shell legacy.
  • - Immersive Shopping at the Store: Dedicated space at the exhibition will feature an immersive store offering exclusive merchandise, facilitating a shopping experience that bridges the gap between the digital cyber world and reality.
  • - Collaboration with Creators: Aimed at celebrating the impact of Ghost in the Shell on various creators, the exhibition will host discussions with illustrators and creators who have drawn inspiration from the series. Information regarding participants will be revealed progressively on official social media accounts.
