About the Films

'The Curtain Rises'

This tale presents a contemporary coming-of-age story aimed at all generations, exploring the triumphs and challenges faced by its characters. Adapted from the literary work of renowned playwright Oriza Hirata, who released his debut novel 'The Curtain Rises' in 2012, the film's screenplay was crafted by Kohei Kiyama, celebrated for his work on 'Kirishima, Bukatsu Yamerutteyo'. Directed by the talented Katsuyuki Motohiro, famed for his work on the 'Bayside Shakedown' series, it beautifully captured the essence of high school theater.

Starring the brightest shining stars of the moment, the five members of Momoiro Clover Z take center stage. They attended Hirata's workshops to learn acting fundamentals before diving into their roles. The character Saori, portrayed by leader Kanako Momota, is a timid yet thoughtful club president. She is joined by the captivating role of Yuko played by Shiori Tamai, the unpredictable Garii by Reni Takagi, the stoic newcomer Nakanishi by Akari Shibata, and the dependable mood-maker Akemi portrayed by Ayaka Sasaki.

With a supporting cast that includes Hana Kuroki, Yuji Murakami, and other acclaimed actors, the film is an emotional rollercoaster that resonates deeply with audiences.

'The Curtain Rises: Their Summer Challenge Before'

This prequel provides an intimate look at the top idol group Momoiro Clover Z as they tackle new challenges in the film industry. Set during the summer of 2014, the idols, previously untrained in acting, are pushed to the limits of their abilities. They attend workshops conducted by Oriza Hirata, who molds their performances into a compelling narrative.

In the face of rigorous training and high expectations, emotions run deep. The shoot demands authenticity, sparking a journey filled with joy, frustration, and the struggles of portraying oneself authentically in front of the camera.

Through over 400 hours of documentation, the film captures the chemistry among the top-tier actors and the growth of the members of Momoiro Clover Z.
