Celebrating Paul Mauriat: A Unique Concert Experience for His 100th Birthday
The world of easy listening is set to commemorate the legacy of the renowned musician Paul Mauriat with an additional concert in celebration of his 100th birthday. Known for timeless classics such as "Love Is Blue" and "Elvira's Song," Mauriat has left an indelible mark on the music landscape, particularly in Japan, where he performed around 1,000 concerts throughout his career. The highly anticipated official concert event will now take place on
July 31 and August 1, 2025, at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A, and due to popular demand, an additional performance has been added.
This remarkable concert, supported by his wife Irene, stands out as the only official event utilizing original scores and promises an authentic experience of Mauriat’s magnificent music. Leading the orchestra is Shinpei Sasaki, whose graceful conducting style evokes the spirit of Mauriat himself. Sasaki reminisces about his childhood, revealing that he discovered Mauriat's enchanting melodies through records played by his parents. "The first track I ever listened to was 'Tears of Toccata' at the age of three, although I had no idea who composed it at the time. Later, once I learned about Mauriat, I realized how deeply his music had resonated with me. It's one of my musical roots," he shares, illustrating the profound impact of Mauriat's work on his life.
