On July 17, 2025, Disneyland Resort, famously dubbed The Happiest Place on Earth, proudly celebrated its 70th anniversary. This milestone commemorated the countless memories created over the decades and honored the dedicated cast members who have made every visit special for guests. The day's festivities kicked off with an exclusive celebration for cast members at Disneyland Park, featuring entertainment, photo opportunities, and a special flag-raising ceremony for veteran cast members in Town Square.
Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, addressed the assembled cast members and shared his heartfelt reflections. “It was on a day like today in 1955 that Walt Disney opened the doors of Disneyland for the very first time and introduced the world to this special place,” he stated. “Seventy years later, Disneyland continues to be one of Walt's greatest achievements, where generations have crossed these gates into a world filled with joy and imagination.”
The anniversary celebration included several limited-time offerings and the grand debut of the newest attraction, Walt Disney – A Magical Life, alongside new surprises at Main Street Cinema and the beloved it’s a small world ride.
Notably, Iger was joined by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro, Disneyland Resort President Thomas Mazloum, and iconic characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse for a ceremonial ringing of the New York Stock Exchange opening bell. This event symbolized the impact Disneyland has had not only on entertainment but also on the cultural landscape as a whole. After the ceremony, Iger officially opened the park, welcoming guests to partake in the jubilant celebrations.
Disneyland Resort opened its doors in 1955, pioneering a new standard for family entertainment. Over the years, it has expanded to encompass two theme parks, three hotels, and the vibrant Downtown Disney District. The legacy created by Walt Disney lives on, now incorporating stories and characters from Pixar, Star Wars, and beloved superheroes.
