Guillermo Viveros Takes the Helm at Gardner Health Services
Gardner Health Services has recently announced a significant leadership transition within its organization, as Guillermo Viveros steps in as the new President and Chief Executive Officer. Viveros, who previously served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and had been acting in the capacity of Interim President and CEO, brings over two decades of corporate finance and operational expertise to his new role.
Located in San Jose, California, Gardner Health Services is recognized as a leading Federally Qualified Health Center that offers essential primary and behavioral health care to the residents of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Each year, the organization provides care to over 47,000 patients, a responsibility Viveros is now privileged to lead on a larger scale.
This milestone appointment reflects Gardner Health Services' commitment to strategic leadership and community-focused health care. The board members expressed confidence in Viveros, highlighting his proven leadership during his tenure as CFO and his ability to navigate the complexities of healthcare legislation and policies. William G. Roth, Chair of the Board of Directors, noted that Viveros's financial acumen and operational insights will be invaluable as the organization faces evolving healthcare dynamics.
Before joining Gardner Health Services in 2023, Viveros had a distinguished career working in corporate finance, global treasury, and operations within several major technology companies. His previous roles include leadership positions at Freshworks, Infoblox, and TiVo, as well as an extensive executive tenure at Juniper Networks. During this time, he was instrumental in overseeing financial operations, including corporate financial planning and analysis, and guiding treasury practices.
Viveros holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and International Business from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University. He also lends his expertise to various community organizations, serving on boards like the Foundation for Hearing Research and the Filoli Historic House and Garden.
Expressing his excitement about leading Gardner Health Services, Viveros stated, "I am deeply honored and energized to lead Gardner Health Services as President and CEO. Gardner has a 59-year legacy rooted in advocacy, health equity, and compassionate care for our most under-resourced populations. As we navigate an evolving healthcare landscape, my focus will be on strengthening our operational foundation, expanding high-quality primary and behavioral health, and cultivating an environment where our dedicated providers and staff can succeed in service to our patients and clients across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties."
The history of Gardner Health Services dates back to 1967, when the Alviso community, with support from Stanford Medical School and the U.S. Office of Economic Opportunity, established the Alviso Family Health Center to address the lack of medical care available for local Mexican farm workers. This initiative was later expanded into San José, evolving into the Family Health Foundation of Alviso, Inc. In parallel, the Gardner Community Health Center was founded to assist cannery workers in the Gardner neighborhood. The two organizations affiliate in 1997, forming what is now known as Gardner Health Services, continuing to be a vital resource for the community.
With Viveros at the helm, Gardner Health Services aims to enhance its outreach and impact within underserved communities, solidifying its role as a pivotal player in California's healthcare landscape.
