United Education Institute Grand Opening in Houston

On April 30, 2026, the United Education Institute (UEI) officially launched its new campus in Houston, Texas, with a spectacular grand opening ceremony that witnessed enthusiastic support from local officials and community members. The event underscored UEI's ongoing commitment to providing essential vocational training and enhancing the economic landscape of the Southwest Houston corridor.

The ceremony featured remarks from Houston City Councilmember Edward Pollard (District J), who presented UEI with a personalized Certificate of Recognition from the City of Houston. Councilmember Pollard highlighted the strategic significance of this new campus, asserting, "This campus adds to the transformation of a corridor we've prioritized. You showed up in this community. This community needs you. Thank you for investing in our community."

Harris County Senior Director Candice S. Young also attended the celebration, representing County Commissioner Lesley Briones. Young presented a Harris County Certificate of Recognition to UEI, sharing a personal anecdote about her niece aspiring to become a Medical Assistant, thus illustrating the real-life impact of vocational education on families in the area.

In addition to local accolades, the new campus received acknowledgment from the Texas State Legislature. Senator Borris Miles honored UEI with a Texas Senate Resolution, while State Representative Hubert Vo presented a Certificate of Special Recognition. Both officials praised UEI for its commitment to community development and workforce readiness. Dr. Shalisa Powell, President of UEI Houston Campus, expressed her gratitude about the collaborative efforts, stating, "Working for the first time with the Texas Senate, the Texas House of Representatives, and the City of Houston, it was rewarding to see United Education Institute supported from every level of government. These honors illustrate our mutual mission of empowering students and bolstering the Houston workforce."

The certificates and resolutions awarded during the ceremony are now displayed prominently in the lobby of the UEI Houston campus, serving as a testament to the school's dedication to the local community. Dr. Powell concluded, "We want to thank everyone who participated in the grand opening event, either through their attendance or by offering recognition. We aren't just opening a school; we are joining a movement in the community to provide a direct pathway to meaningful careers."

As an accredited institution, UEI offers a diverse array of vocational and skilled trade programs designed to help students complete their diplomas and embark on new careers within ten months. Among its programs, UEI Houston provides healthcare training in areas such as Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Insurance Coding, and Dental Assistant.
