Elephant Gym's Milestone Partnership with Fender
Elephant Gym, a prominent instrumental rock band from Taiwan, has officially announced its partnership with Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. This collaboration emphasizes the band’s commitment to their craft and marks a significant milestone as KT Chang (the band's bassist) and Tell Chang (the guitarist) become the first Taiwanese artists to represent the iconic brand in Asia.
The Fender family echoes the philosophy of its founder, Leo Fender, who famously said, "Artists are angels, and our mission is to give them wings to fly." This vision continues as Fender actively seeks to support musicians across genres and ages, fostering the culture of guitar and bass. Through this partnership, the company will provide musical instruments, maintenance services, and support for various aspects of their musical endeavors, from songwriting to live performances.
Founded in 2012 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Elephant Gym comprises three exceptional musicians: KT Chang on bass and vocals, Tell Chang on guitar and keyboards, and drummer Tu Chia-Chin. The band has gained recognition for its innovative blend of intricate rhythms and bass-driven compositions, captivating audiences worldwide since the release of their debut EP, "BALANCE," in 2013. Their unique sound has transcended borders, earning them a spot among the top bands representing Asia.
Upcoming Events and Performances
Elephant Gym is set to participate in the Fender Experience 2025, an immersive musical event happening from October 11 to 13 in the Harajuku and Omotesando area of Tokyo. The final day will feature a talk show with the band, showcasing their insights into their music and creative process.
Reflecting on the partnership, Tell Chang expressed, "As a Fender enthusiast, I am incredibly honored to be the first Fender artist from Taiwan. I name all my guitars and believe they have souls. Thank you, Fender, for being an essential partner in my life! I truly enjoy making music with these guitars on stage, in the studio, and in my bedroom. I hope everyone finds their Fender partner and can rock together!"
Fender's Asia Pacific President, Edward Cole, remarked, "It is a huge privilege to welcome KT Chang and Tell Chang as Fender artists. KT's exceptional bass playing and emotive expression imbue Elephant Gym’s music with a unique depth. Meanwhile, Tell's delicate yet dynamic guitar play adds a distinctive flair to the band's soundscape, broadening their musical realm. Their music and the unique world created by Elephant Gym will captivate many music fans and inspire the next generation of players. Fender is committed to supporting these artists as they expand their wings, both domestically and internationally. Welcome to the Fender family, KT and Tell!"
