GameAbove Sports Contributes $20,000 to Help Local Youth Through First Tee Initiative

GameAbove Sports Donates to First Tee of Greater Detroit

In a significant gesture of goodwill, GameAbove Sports has committed $20,000 to support the First Tee of Greater Detroit, a non-profit organization focused on youth development through golf. This donation was facilitated via a special golf challenge event held at the GameAbove Sports Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, on December 26, 2024.

The funds for this donation were raised during a thrilling moment when Kyle Rodes, a professional golfer sponsored by GameAbove Sports, successfully completed four out of five challenging golf shots during a halftime break at the bowl game. This achievement not only showcased Rodes' skills but also demonstrated the positive impact that sports can have on youth engagement and development.

Chao Sun, who serves as the Vice President of Investments and President of GameAbove Giving, emphasized the organization's commitment to fostering youth development through sports. In his statement, he expressed excitement about supporting an impactful organization like First Tee. “This donation represents just one of the many ways we strive to positively impact our community,” said Sun. He underscored the importance of the partnership with First Tee, stating that the financial support would provide valuable opportunities for young people in Metro Detroit.

Carl Bentley, the Chief Executive Officer of First Tee of Greater Detroit, also shared his gratitude, acknowledging the generous donation and its implications for local youth. He stated, “The partnership with GameAbove Sports will create enhanced opportunities for young individuals in the Detroit area to learn the game of golf while acquiring important life lessons.” Bentley reiterated the organization’s commitment to helping young golfers build character and resilience as they engage in athletic activities.

GameAbove Sports is dedicated to promoting wellness and opportunity through athletics. The company has consistently strengthened its ties to golf, supporting various initiatives that promote the growth of both amateur and professional golfing. In addition to their work with the First Tee, GameAbove Sports recently initiated the opening of the GameAbove Golf Performance Center located at Eagle Crest Golf Club, rated one of the top college golf courses by Golf Pass Golfers' Choice 2024.

They have invested a total of $17.5 million over three years into Eastern Michigan University's Men's and Women's Golf Programs, contributing a further $6.5 million recently. Through these actions, they aim to revitalize championship golf at the university while promoting local talent as brand ambassadors.

In addition to supporting collegiate golf, GameAbove Sports has played an active role in professional golf events, including the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit and the Corby Classic in Toronto. Furthermore, they have made a considerable investment in Sports Travel Group to expand their Golf Traveller operations throughout North America.

GameAbove Sports proudly sponsors six professional golfers to further their engagement in the sport. These initiatives are part of the company's broader mission to create pathways for youth, amateurs, and professionals to thrive in their sporting endeavors, both on and off the golf course.
