Cisco Unveils Agile Services Networking Innovations to Propel Service Providers in AI Era

Cisco Unleashes Networking Innovations at Mobile World Congress 2025

At the Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO), a leader in networking and security solutions, has rolled out groundbreaking innovations under its Agile Services Networking initiative. This launch is aimed at empowering service providers to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive AI-driven marketplace by offering simplified, resilient, and intelligent networking solutions.

Enhancing Service Provider Capabilities

Cisco's Agile Services Networking seeks to revolutionize the way service providers construct and manage their networks. The new architecture introduces high-speed, feature-rich Silicon One routing, along with a unified software experience, converging IP and optics into a seamless network design. This strategic overhaul not only optimizes network performance but also opens up new revenue streams, allowing service providers to monetize the services essential for competing effectively in the AI arena.

Early adopters of this innovative networking model, such as Arelion, Lumen, and Reliance Jio, have reported remarkable improvements in operational efficiency, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction. These enhancements come as service providers are increasingly tasked with delivering secure and competitive AI-connected experiences to their users.

Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, emphasized the magnitude of innovation in the AI field. He mentioned that the ongoing technical breakthroughs are progressively reshaping consumer experiences and providing businesses with new applications that redefine connectivity across various platforms. Therefore, the shift towards AI represents substantial opportunities for service providers to modernize their infrastructures, reduce costs, and ultimately grow their businesses.

New Assurance Capabilities for Enhanced Subscriber Experiences

Building on the capabilities of Agile Services Networking, Cisco introduced two significant innovations that provide real-time visibility into both on-network and off-network connectivity. These advancements allow service providers to ensure true end-to-end assurance, thus enhancing the subscriber experience.

1. ThousandEyes Connected Devices: This extension empowers service providers by delivering superior visibility across the entire subscriber experience, spanning both home networks and off-network services. With insights into the performance of last-mile networks, service providers can proactively address issues before they impact users.

2. Provider Connectivity Assurance: Featuring an innovative AI-powered 'User Experience' capability, this solution significantly enhances the performance of mobile service provider networks. It offers real-time traffic insights and predictive demand intelligence, enabling providers to optimize user experiences, alleviate congestion, and adjust spectrum usage dynamically.

Leveraging these new capabilities, service providers like Virgin Media O2 and Odido have seen improved customer satisfaction and net promoter scores (NPS). By harnessing assurance, they're uncovering unique opportunities for differentiated service offerings while effectively reducing churn.

Gareth Lister, Director of Customer Products at Virgin Media O2, shared their pride in improving service quality amid the consolidation of network types in the industry. He noted how the integration of ThousandEyes Connected Devices powers their Smart Support service, allowing for proactive monitoring of customer connections and experiences in real time.

Juan Alberto Brescoli, Head of Access Network at Odido, highlighted that delivering exceptional customer experience is their utmost priority. He praised Cisco's Provider Connectivity Assurance User Experience application for its in-depth insights into network performance, thereby facilitating better understanding and management of user experiences.

Driving Innovation as a Service for Mobile Network Operators

In addition to Agile Services Networking, Cisco announced new advancements to its Mobility Services Platform that are designed to accelerate revenue growth for service providers. These enhancements include an application and API ecosystem, as well as advanced network services catering to people, spaces, and things—all delivered seamlessly as a service.
