MTB Challenge: An Exciting Mountain Biking Experience
Toyama City is set to host an incredible opportunity for beginners with the upcoming
MTB Challenge on
July 18, 2026. The event is organized by
JPF, a Tokyo-based corporation, under a委託 agreement to promote urban sports in the area. This unique event will take place at
NiX Sports Academy Cycle Park, allowing participants to explore the thrilling world of mountain biking through hands-on experience.
Who Can Participate?
The MTB Challenge is open to anyone aged
5 and older who can ride a bicycle without training wheels and can perform standing pedaling. It is designed to introduce newcomers to mountain biking, covering everything from basic bike handling to riding on specially designed courses.
Participants will receive instruction from experienced riders, including
JPF's former professional MTB athlete
Jun Matsuo, who will guide attendees through the essentials of biking—including braking, gear shifting, and balance.
A Step-by-Step Learning Experience
On the day of the event, a carefully structured program will ensure a smooth learning curve:
- - Preparation Phase: Participants will learn about the correct settings for their bikes, such as saddle height adjustment and proper braking techniques.
- - Control Practice: Riders will practice in a flat area to develop balance and riding skills.
- - Course Riding: Finally, participants will use what they've learned to navigate a beginner-friendly course, putting their skills to the test.
This gradual approach allows newcomers to build confidence and enjoy the thrill of mountain biking in a supportive environment.
