Exciting Return of the 2026 Taiwan Foxconn Ladies Golf Tournament with Record Prize Money

2026 Taiwan Foxconn Ladies Golf Tournament Returns

The highly anticipated 2026 Taiwan Foxconn Ladies Golf Tournament is officially back and is ready to steal the spotlight in the world of women’s golf. After nearly 50 years, Taiwan is set to host this prestigious event, which will take place from March 12 to March 15, 2026, at the beautiful Orient Golf Country Club in Taoyuan. The tournament is not just an event; it symbolizes the resurgence of women’s golf in Taiwan and marks a significant milestone for the area’s sports culture.

Organized by the LPGA of Taiwan (TLPGA) and the Japan Ladies Professional Golfers' Association, this year’s tournament boasts a staggering US$2 million purse—the largest ever seen in the event’s history. This change of branding comes from its previous incarnation known as the “Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship,” held for the past two years. The title sponsorship has returned with the renowned Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn)—a global leader in electronics manufacturing—adding prestige to the tournament and elevating its global profile. In a remarkable partnership, the SoftBank Corp, a leading technology firm from Japan, has come on board as a special sponsor for the first time.

Previously, the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Tour (JLPGA) was home to golfing legends like Hisako Higuchi and Ai Miyazato, who have paved the way for the sport. Additionally, there is a unique connection with Taiwan's own Ai-yu Tu, a golf icon who has won 71 championships and was a 7-time money titleholder on the JLPGA Tour. Her influence remains significant as she serves as a special advisor for this year’s tournament, inspiring a new generation of golfers in Taiwan.

Huang Pi-hsun, the chairwoman of TLPGA, expressed her gratitude towards Foxconn for making this dream event possible again, stating: “Ms. Tu’s glorious achievements on the JLPGA Tour have been a source of pride for Taiwan. I am grateful for Foxconn’s support, which has allowed this dream tour to return to Taiwan after 48 years, giving young players a stage to challenge the world.” This sentiment reflects a collective enthusiasm and hope for the upcoming tournament.

The Vice President of JLPGA, Takako Matsuo, echoed these sentiments as well. She mentioned how the past two years of collaboration between TLPGA and Foxconn have elevated the game to an elite level. The anticipation is palpable as they prepare to welcome esteemed Japanese players to Taiwan, promising high levels of competition that will captivate fans and showcase the sport’s growing prominence in Asia.

Setting itself apart from other tournaments, the 2026 Taiwan Foxconn Ladies Golf Tournament features exceptional ranking points and considerable prize money, reinforcing its status as a key event on the JLPGA Tour calendar. The significance of this event is magnified given that it offers the second-highest purse on the tour for 2026, marking another triumph for the Foxconn-sponsored event since its inception in 2024.

Looking ahead, golf enthusiasts and participants are encouraged to follow the event's progress through its official Facebook page and also through Foxconn’s Instagram. This year’s tournament not only emphasizes athletic excellence but aims to inspire a new wave of female golfers on an international stage. As the anticipation builds for March 12, all eyes will turn to Taiwan, where history, culture, and sports will intersect, undoubtedly setting the stage for an unforgettable tournament.
