Innovative Aloha Shirts by WeOur
In an empowering initiative, WeOur, a special subsidiary of Adastria, based in Shibuya, Tokyo, has launched an inclusive fashion project titled "Play fashion! for ALL". This initiative aims to integrate disability art into everyday fashion, beginning with Aloha shirts designed for staff at the Seihoukai social welfare corporation in Ibaraki Prefecture.
Aloha Shirts with a Unique Twist
The Aloha shirts, intended for the uniform of Seihoukai employees, are not your everyday Hawaiian shirts. The fabric showcases original designs created from 20 artworks contributed by participants in Seihoukai's disability art project, known as "Shiratoli Welfare Art." This project operates out of two facilities: the designated facility, Peer Shiratori, and the Life Support Hirabaku center, which support people with disabilities.
WeOur's effort emphasizes the potential and importance of disability art in society. By wearing these Aloha shirts, staff members create a more inviting workplace environment, fostering a sense of joy and interaction with service users, ultimately leading to smiles and improved connections.
Moreover, having their artistic expressions transformed into wearable pieces of art instills a sense of pride in the users and their families. This initiative not only enhances workplace morale but also contributes positively to the broader community, highlighting the value of inclusive practices.
A Collaborative Effort
The production of these Aloha shirts has been a collaborative endeavor, with full support from And & Sti, another company within the Adastria Group. Known for producing exciting uniforms for various sectors, And & Sti brings a wealth of experience to this project, further anchoring the commitment to inclusive fashion in real-world contexts.
The ongoing "Play fashion! for ALL" project underscored WeOur's mission to utilize the strengths of the fashion industry to promote the value and capabilities of disability art. Their continued support for welfare activities through art exemplifies their dedication to creating a more inclusive society.
