Fisher Investments Forms Strategic Partnership with Advent International and ADIA to Enhance Growth

Fisher Investments Secures Strategic Partnership with Advent and ADIA

In a landmark move, Fisher Investments (FI) has announced the completion of a $3 billion minority common stock investment from Advent International (Advent) along with a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). This investment positions Fisher Investments at a valuation of approximately $12.75 billion, marking a significant moment in the firm’s history.

The implications of this strategic partnership are far-reaching, particularly in terms of Fisher Investments' operational independence and future growth trajectory. Ken Fisher, the founder of FI, continues to maintain a majority controlling interest, holding over 70% of the voting shares and remains active in his roles as Executive Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer.

This partnership enables FI to leverage the expertise and financial support of Advent and ADIA while preserving its unique culture and commitment to client service. Ken Fisher emphasized that this arrangement is not merely a financial transaction but rather part of a broader long-term estate plan aimed at ensuring continuity for the firm in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

With the investment, David Mussafer, Managing Partner at Advent, joins FI's board of directors, reflecting the collaborative spirit underpinning this partnership. Gabriela Weiss, a Principal at Advent, serves as an observer on the board, further strengthening the relationship between the companies.

As of the end of 2024, Fisher Investments managed nearly $300 billion in assets on behalf of more than 170,000 clients worldwide, including a diverse mix of private individuals and leading institutional clients. This represents the first instance of external investment in the firm, which has previously been wholly owned by its founder and employees.

DAMIAN ORNANI, the current CEO of FI, acknowledged the critical role that Advent and ADIA will play in supporting FI's mission to grow its client base globally. He expressed enthusiasm about the potential for collaboration, citing the strong demand for personalized financial expertise that FI has cultivated over the past 45 years.

Mussafer echoed this sentiment, noting that the partnership arrives at a time when clients are increasingly seeking independent and tailored financial advice. He expressed confidence in the ability of FI to best utilize the resources brought in through this partnership to continue delivering superior client outcomes.

Fisher Investments has built a reputation for being an independent, fee-only investment adviser since its inception in 1979. Alongside its successful strategies, founder Ken Fisher is also a seasoned author and financial columnist, previously writing for Forbes for over three decades. He continues to engage with audiences through his writings across multiple platforms, ensuring that FI not only thrives in its financial dealings but also maintains a strong presence in thought leadership within the investment community.

Advent International, an established player in the private equity landscape, brings over $88.8 billion in assets under management and a global network of expertise to the table. This partnership is poised to unlock new growth opportunities for Fisher Investments as they navigate an evolving financial landscape together.

This investment consolidates Fisher Investments' capability to innovate and expand while retaining its focus on delivering exceptional service to clients. Investors can remain assured of the firm’s continued dedication to preserving its core values even as it embarks on this new chapter characterized by strategic alliance and diversified expertise.
