SK Chemicals Showcases Over 70 Eco-Friendly Products at K 2025 in Düsseldorf
SK Chemicals to Participate in the World’s Largest Plastics Trade Fair
SK Chemicals, a frontrunner in sustainable material solutions, is set to display an impressive range of over 70 commercialized materials at K 2025, taking place from October 8 to 15 at the Messe Düsseldorf exhibition center in Germany. This prominent event, organized every three years, positions itself as the most significant global gathering in the plastics and rubber sectors, alongside NPE in the United States and Chinaplas in China.
Innovative Themes and Technology
This year's K fair highlights the theme, "The Power of Plastics! Green, Smart, Responsible," and will feature participation from over 3,000 companies across 61 countries showcasing their latest innovations. Under the motto, "On-hand solution for a sustainable tomorrow," SK Chemicals plans to showcase its capabilities in providing immediate solutions to its clients through its advanced technologies.
The exhibition from SK Chemicals will be categorized into three main themes: "Recyclable," "Recycled," and "Bio Solutions." The company aims to demonstrate its commitment to circular economy principles, reinforcing its technological expertise and operational readiness to contribute to sustainability in the plastics industry.
Dedicated Recycling Zone
A highlight of SK Chemicals’ exhibit will be a dedicated "Recycle Zone," which will feature fully commercialized finished products made from circular recycled materials. Examples of these products include SKYPET CR and ECOTRIA CLARO, spanning diverse sectors such as cosmetics, automotive, food, and fashion. This zone will provide an intuitive and immersive experience showcasing the complete recycling process, from waste collection to raw material preparation, depolymerization, and commercialization.
Special attention will be directed towards automotive applications, a rapidly growing segment. For the first time, SK Chemicals will present textile fibers and automotive floor mats made from SKYPET CR, crafted in collaboration with Durmont (Austria). Additionally, a truck roof lining developed in conjunction with Hyundai Motor Company will be displayed, specifically molded for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 model.
Bio Solutions and Market Growth
In the "Bio Solutions" category, SK Chemicals will introduce a variety of finished products made with ECOZEN, a high-thermal-resistant copolyester containing up to 15% biomass. The showcased items will include kitchen appliances, food containers, baby utensils, and sports water bottles. Moreover, products made with ECOTRION, a 100% bio-based polyol, will be featured, including intermediates for spandex and synthetic leather, as well as bags, shoes, gloves, and golf balls.
Other materials on display will include SKYGREEN, a copolyester known for its transparency and chemical resistance for use in cosmetics, food packaging, and home appliances, along with SKYPEL, a TPEE made from polyester that combines rubber elasticity with technical plastic performance for automotive parts, industrial pipes, underwater cables, and breathable films.
Furthermore, recent legislative tools from the European Union, such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), underline the region's leadership in recycled material utilization. Market analysts predict that the European recycled PET market will grow by over 7% annually, contributing to a global plastics recycling market expected to reach $120 billion by 2030, a substantial increase from $58 billion in 2019.
Emphasizing Circularity
"As circularity becomes an imperative across global markets, SK Chemicals offers robust recycling and bio solutions, recognized for their quality and commercial maturity," stated Ahn Jae-hyun, CEO of SK Chemicals. "We will continue to strengthen our partnerships with global companies and assert our technological leadership and brand presence in the recycled plastics sector."
The K 2025 fair serves as an essential platform for SK Chemicals to not only showcase its innovations but also to establish its commitment to sustainability, reinforcing the vital role of the plastics industry in addressing global environmental challenges.
