The Eurasia Foundation, in collaboration with Toyo Gakuen University, is launching a remarkable special lecture series titled "Reassessing the Asian Community Amid Growing Global Divisions." This program aims to engage participants deeply in discussions surrounding the current geopolitical landscape, the sense of community in Asia, and the shared cultural heritage of East Asia.

About the Lecture Series

Starting on September 17, 2026, and extending until January 21, 2027, this series consists of 15 unique lectures held every Thursday afternoon. Esteemed experts from various fields will lead these sessions, providing attendees with insights into pressing contemporary issues affecting Asia and the world. While primarily aimed at Toyo Gakuen students, the lecture series is open to the public, allowing anyone interested to participate free of charge, provided they register in advance.

The overarching theme for this year’s lectures, "Reassessing the Asian Community Amid Growing Global Divisions," reflects the pressing need to recognize and appreciate the principles of the Asian community, particularly during turbulent times. Addressing real-world issues, the course will foster discussions about shared cultures, collaboration success stories, and unified consciousness aimed at achieving peace and harmony in East Asia and beyond.

• - October 1: Japan's prospects in US-China relations – Mitsuhiro Kimura, Ikkokai Representative.
• - October 8: A plea for an end to the Okinawa and Sino-Japanese wars – Kunio Arakaki, Former Editor at Ryukyu Shimpo.
• - October 15: Analyzing the Trump administration’s Iran policies – Hiroki Sugita, Meiji University Professor and Former Chief Editorial Writer at Kyodo News.
• - October 22: A modern perspective on Sino-Japanese relations through Chiang Kai-shek’s lens – Rui Tsang, Keio University Professor.

This fascinating series continues into December and concludes in January, offering topics on crucial issues from AI growth in China to the contrasting cultural narratives of heroes in Japanese and Chinese literature.

Dates: The lectures span from September 17, 2026, to January 21, 2027, occurring every Thursday, with breaks on certain dates.

Time: Sessions are held from 14:40 to 16:10.

Location: Phoenix Hall, Toyo Gakuen University's main building.

Registration is easily done through the Toyo Gakuen University website. It’s important to note that although the series is free, prior registration is necessary, with a cut-off two days before each lecture. Participants can sign up for multiple sessions if desired.
