Nicholas Grindstaff Joins Sterling Infrastructure as New CFO

Sterling's New Chapter: Nicholas Grindstaff Takes the Helm as CFO

Sterling Infrastructure, Inc., headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, has announced a significant leadership change with the appointment of Nicholas (Nick) Grindstaff as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective July 10, 2025. This move signals the company's commitment to bolstering its financial leadership as it continues its expansion across various sectors within the infrastructure market.

Grindstaff steps into this critical position following the tenure of Ron Ballschmiede, who served as the CFO from November 2015 until last month. Ballschmiede's impactful leadership helped steer the company through challenges and successes over nearly a decade, but as the company pivots toward its next growth phase, the board saw the need for fresh perspectives and expertise.

With over three decades of experience in finance and corporate leadership, Grindstaff is well-equipped to handle the responsibilities that come with the CFO title. Most recently, he held the CFO position at Cinterra, a company focusing on renewable energy solutions. His background also includes significant financial leadership roles at the Orbital Infrastructure Group, Inc., which specializes in providing diversified infrastructure services. Earlier in his career, Grindstaff spent twenty years with Quanta Services, Inc., where he advanced through the ranks to roles such as Treasurer and Vice President of Finance.

Grindstaff's extensive experience has equipped him with a diverse skill set, including financial strategy, mergers and acquisitions, financial planning, investor relations, and internal controls. He holds both a Master of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Houston, indicating a strong academic foundation that solidifies his practical know-how in financial matters.

Joe Cutillo, CEO of Sterling, expressed enthusiasm over Grindstaff's appointment: "We are pleased to welcome Nick to Sterling as our new CFO. His extensive experience across diverse financial disciplines and his leadership within decentralized, entrepreneurial organizations make him an excellent fit for our culture. Nick's insight and capabilities will be invaluable as we continue to scale the company and execute on our long-term strategic objectives.”
