Environmental Media Association Receives Humanitarian Award at LMGI Awards
The Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) has announced that the
Environmental Media Association (EMA) will be honored with the prestigious
LMGI Humanitarian Award during the 13th Annual LMGI Awards event. This ceremony is scheduled to take place on
August 22, 2026, at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage located in
Santa Monica, California.
The LMGI Awards serve to recognize outstanding contributions made by professionals in location management within the film, television, and commercial industries. The Guild is celebrating EMA, spearheaded by
CEO Debbie Levin, for its pioneering role in promoting sustainable production practices within the entertainment sector. With a strong focus on sustainable filmmaking and storytelling, EMA has become a global leader in the movement for eco-friendly production standards.
Debbie Levin emphasized the importance of location professionals in the filmmaking process, stating, “Location professionals play a critical role in shaping how stories come to life. Their commitment to protecting the environments where productions take place is essential for creating a more sustainable future in our industry.” She also acknowledged that the EMA Green Seal, established in 2003, has set a recognized benchmark for environmentally responsible production.
The award not only acknowledges EMA's achievements but also highlights the collective efforts of the entire industry—producers, crews, and filmmakers—towards integrating eco-conscious practices in every step of production. Nancy Haecker, the Chair of the LMGI Awards, remarked, “The EMA is one of the most influential organizations advancing environmental sustainability in television and filming today. Its impact is far-reaching, especially as international productions soar.”
The LMGI Awards are categorized into various segments including
Contemporary Film,
Period Film,
Contemporary TV,
Commercials, and more, showcasing the artistry and craft of location management. Alongside the Humanitarian Award, the event will also pay tribute to notable industry professionals, such as
Location Manager Mike Fantasia, who has left his mark on films like _Top Gun Maverick_ and _Spider-Man Homecoming_.
Ultimately, the
Environmental Media Association stands as a beacon of change within the entertainment industry, striving to transform how productions are conceived and executed in light of today’s pressing environmental concerns. The recognition by the LMGI reflects a commitment to progress and collaboration, reinforcing that the path to sustainability requires a united effort from all sectors of the industry.
