Binance Receives Recognition from Singapore Police for Cybercrime Prevention Collaboration
Binance Gains Recognition from Singapore Police Force for Cybercrime Prevention Efforts
In a significant achievement, Binance, recognized globally as the operator of the leading cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has been awarded by the Singapore Police Force (SPF). This accolade acknowledges its proactive measures in addressing and mitigating the risk of cybercrime, reinforcing Binance's dedication to creating a safe environment in the financial technology sector.
The prestigious award was presented by the SPF's CyberCrime Command (CCC) during the recent Alliance of Public Private Cybercrime Stakeholders (APPACT) networking dinner held on March 11, 2025. The APPACT Appreciation Awards seek to honor entities in the private sector for their cooperative endeavors with the SPF CCC in enhancing capabilities related to cybercrime detection and prevention. This recognition highlights how crucial partnerships between private corporations and public entities, such as Binance, are in combating the ever-evolving cybersecurity threats in Singapore and beyond.
At the event, Mr. Zhang Weihan, Acting Deputy Commissioner and Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at SPF, commended various private sector contributors, including Binance. He emphasized their invaluable analytical and operational support in resolving numerous cybercrime cases within the Singapore jurisdiction.
Binance’s recognition comes amidst a gathering of 18 award recipients, featuring renowned tech leaders like Google, Mastercard, Meta, Microsoft, and PayPal. Speaking at the ceremony, Akbar Akhtar, Binance's Head of Investigations for the Asia-Pacific region, expressed gratitude towards the SPF, stating, “It is a great honor for Binance to receive the APPACT Appreciation Award. We deeply appreciate the Singapore Police Force's acknowledgment of our team's resources and efforts in the fight against cybercrime.” He further remarked on the importance of collaboration in achieving optimal security and reiterated Binance's commitment to engage closely with law enforcement and industry partners to foster a secure digital environment.
This award adds to Binance’s impressive array of accolades within Southeast Asia, as the company has been particularly active in regional initiatives against cyber threats. Not long before this honor, Binance also received an appreciation from Thailand's Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) for its contributions to an operation dubbed Cyber Guardian. Moreover, the Directorate of Cyber Crime of Indonesia recognized Binance's long-term support with an appreciation medal, further emphasizing its regional impact.
In 2024 alone, Binance responded to approximately 65,000 requests from law enforcement agencies globally, showcasing its dedication to working cooperatively with both public and private entities to uphold a secure digital ecosystem.
The recognition from the Singapore Police Force not only reflects Binance's commitment to global efforts against illicit activity but also underlines the importance of building strong public-private partnerships across the board. As Binance looks ahead, it remains steadfast in its mission to protect users globally by embracing collaboration with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders in the fight against cybercrime.
