Motorola Solutions Partners with Azerbaijan to Upgrade Critical TETRA Communication Infrastructure

Motorola Solutions Partners with Azerbaijan for TETRA Network Modernization

Motorola Solutions has announced a landmark agreement with the Special Communication and Information Security State Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCISSS) to modernize a crucial element of the country’s communication infrastructure. This initiative aims to enhance the TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) network, primarily used by public safety agencies and state institutions, ensuring reliable connectivity and communication during critical operations.

The project, disclosed on September 15, 2025, involves the integration of Motorola Solutions’ DIMETRA Connect into the existing TETRA network. This enhancement will extend TETRA functionalities beyond traditional radio coverage areas, particularly useful for personnel operating in remote regions. Users will benefit from MXP660 multi-bearer portable radios which are designed to facilitate seamless communication across integrated networks, further ensuring that emergency responders and public safety officials can maintain communication during operations.

A key feature of this modernization is the implementation of geographic redundancy across multiple data centers. Such a setup is crucial to enhance system resilience, enabling uninterrupted service during power outages, natural calamities, or unexpected disruptions. Motorola Solutions is committed to providing comprehensive support for three years following the upgrade, which includes regular updates for software and hardware, antivirus protection, and preventive maintenance for the radio communication systems.

Ilgar Musayev, the head of SCISSS, emphasized the importance of this modernization project during the signing ceremony. He stated, “With this contract, SCISSS—one of the pioneers in implementing modern information security technologies—once again reaffirms Azerbaijan's long-term commitment to innovation, sustainability and information security. This modernization program will enhance the reliability and resilience of critical information infrastructures across state institutions.”

Sergio Redomero Gonzalez, Vice President of Sales for Motorola Solutions in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, echoed these sentiments, highlighting that this upgrade would secure proven TETRA technology and ensure that public safety personnel can communicate reliably amidst evolving challenges.

This modernization initiative is not just a technical upgrade but a significant step towards aligning Azerbaijan's radio communications operations with international standards. By doing so, the project opens doors for enhanced collaborations with regional and global partners, thus advancing the communication capabilities within the country.

Motorola Solutions’ commitment to creating a safer world is at the heart of this endeavor. Their technologies are built to protect people, property, and places, thereby supporting public safety agencies and enhancing community safety. The firm’s dedication to innovation also extends to maintaining a secure and efficient operational framework for agencies worldwide.
