Astemo Americas Plans Major Expansion in Kentucky

In a significant move for the automotive industry, Astemo Americas, Inc. has announced an investment exceeding $112 million aimed at boosting the production of hybrid electric-vehicle motors at its manufacturing plants located in Berea, Kentucky. This expansion not only marks a pivotal step forward for the company's manufacturing capabilities but is also poised to create 114 new jobs in the region.

The expansion project, situated in Madison County, will add nearly 300,000 square feet to Astemo's existing production and warehouse space on Mayde Road in Berea. The investment is part of a larger multi-year program that aims to generate an impressive total of 282 new job opportunities while increasing the output of hybrid EV powertrain components at Astemo’s Kentucky facilities.

Astemo’s operations in Berea primarily focus on the production of chassis and electric powertrain components. Additionally, they have another manufacturing facility in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, that is dedicated to producing electric powertrain and engine management systems, enhancing the company's capacity to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear hailed this substantial investment, deeming it one of the largest in Madison County’s recent history. He expressed enthusiasm about Kentucky's leading position in advanced manufacturing and electric vehicle operations.
