About Keita Morimoto


Born in Osaka in 1990, Keita Morimoto moved to Canada in 2006. After graduating from Ontario College of Art and Design in 2012, he returned to Japan in 2021, establishing his base in Tokyo. Morimoto's profound interest in baroque painting, American realism of the early 20th century, and classical themes drives his artistic pursuits, where he seeks to transform everyday urban life into special narratives.

His work, which emblemizes "light" symbolically, combines sacred and universal qualities with the stark realities of consumer culture, creating pieces that resonate with historical depth and contemporary complexities. Recent exhibitions have included solo shows at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa and displays in prominent institutions such as the Art Gallery of Peterborough and The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.
