Toshima Health Center Hosts Annual Lecture on Women’s Health Issues Addressing Gender-specific Medicine

Toshima Health Center Annual Lecture on Women's Health

On July 4, the Toshima Health Center will celebrate its opening with an informative public lecture dedicated to women's health issues through the lens of gender-specific medicine. This event aims to enhance public understanding and knowledge about health management and community healthcare.

The event will open with a keynote speech by Dr. Keiko Amano, a pioneer in gender-specific medicine and a board member of the Japan Society of Gender Medicine. Her talk will focus on "Women's Health and Gender Medicine," where she will delve into health issues derived from the biological and social differences between genders.

Following the keynote, there will be a panel discussion themed "Women's Health and Community Healthcare." Dr. Amano will be joined by distinguished panelists, including Ms. Misako Iwata, the department head at the Tokyo Otsuka Hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology department, and Ms. Chiaki Takegami, the director of Chika Clinic. This discussion will address the current state of women's health services and the challenges that exist, alongside dialogue on how to foster collaboration to support women’s health within the community.

Furthermore, the event will feature the "Watashi Maintenance Lab" on the second floor of the Toshima Health Center, where attendees can participate in health measurement experiences using devices such as body composition analyzers. There will also be a showcase focusing on women's health, supported by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co.

A spokesperson from the Toshima district remarked, "The newly established Toshima Health Center is committed to strengthening efforts around women’s health issues and prevention strategies. In conjunction with this lecture and panel discussion featuring Dr. Amano and local practicing physicians, we encourage attendees to reflect on their own health and that of their families. The 'Watashi Maintenance Lab' will provide health checks on the day, so we invite everyone to participate."
