Discovering AI and 5G Innovations at GSMA M360 Eurasia Conference in Tashkent

GSMA M360 Eurasia Conference Kicks Off in Tashkent

Today marks the commencement of the GSMA M360 Eurasia conference, taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan for the first time. This pivotal event gathers policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators, igniting discussions on the digital transformation opportunities in Eurasia.

The GSMA report, released today, highlights that the mobile industry's contribution to the Eurasian economy is projected to reach a soaring $270 billion by 2030. This conference, in partnership with Uzbekistan's Ministry of Digital Technologies and hosted by Beeline Uzbekistan, a subsidiary of VEON, aims to explore the thriving digital ecosystem and the next wave of mobile technologies.

One of the highlights of M360 Eurasia is the demonstration booth of GSMA Foundry, showcasing the award-winning Kaz-LLM, a language model developed by Kazakh research institutions and QazCode from VEON, with support from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and GSMA Foundry. This pioneering model is designed to bridge the language gap in AI technologies, supporting languages with limited resources, such as Kazakh, Turkish, English, and Russian.

Moreover, GSMA Foundry is collaborating with IBM to grant GSMA members access to Watsonx.ai, enhancing the capabilities of digital service providers. Another noteworthy initiative being presented involves a partnership with the European Space Agency focusing on non-terrestrial networks.

Vivek Badrinath, the CEO of GSMA, stated, "Connectivity is a powerful source of economic growth and a transformative tool for business and public services in the region. Last year, mobile technologies and services generated a GDP contribution of 7.7% across Eurasia, translating to a staggering $220 billion. This figure is expected to increase to $270 billion by 2030. M360 Eurasia serves as an excellent platform for discussions aimed at accelerating regional digital growth through collaboration, innovation, and ambition."
