Join AltaPointe Health's Green Initiative for Mental Health Awareness on May 12

Community Comes Together for Mental Health Awareness

On May 12, 2025, AltaPointe Health, in collaboration with the Washington County Stepping Up Initiative, will host a community event titled "Go Green for Mental Health". This initiative aims to raise awareness about mental health issues and foster supportive conversations in the community during Mental Health Awareness Month.

The Importance of Mental Health

Mental health is an integral part of overall well-being, influencing how we think, feel, and act. It affects our day-to-day lives, physical health, and how we interact with others. AltaPointe Health recognizes the vital connection between mental and physical health, emphasizing the need for open discussions about mental health challenges that individuals across various backgrounds face.

Ashley Blount, the coordinator for AltaPointe’s Washington County outpatient office, highlights the significance of this initiative by stating, "This is about more than just wearing green—it's about reminding one another that we are not alone in our struggles." Everyone can play a role in lifting the stigma associated with mental health issues and fostering an environment of understanding and support.

Community Participation

On the event day, residents are encouraged to show their support by wearing green attire, decorating their homes or workplaces with green elements, and engaging creatively to stimulate meaningful conversations. A dedicated Mental Health Resource Table will be available at the Washington County Courthouse, located at 45 Court Street in Chatom, where attendees can gather information about local mental health services and supports.

This grassroots approach aims to create a united front in addressing mental health by making these conversations visible and accessible. By donning green, participants are not only contributing to this awareness but also reinforcing the message that mental health concerns can affect anyone, regardless of their life situation.

The Role of AltaPointe Health
