Revolutionizing Onchain Credit Card Transactions
In a groundbreaking collaboration,
Rain, a global credit card issuance platform specializing in stablecoins, has joined forces with
Visa to usher in a new era of on-chain financial transactions. This partnership aims to simplify the way users can engage in daily financial activities through tokenized credit card systems and stablecoin regulations.
Unveiling a New Financial Era
On May 2, 2025, Rain announced its participation in Visa's pilot program for the settlement of stablecoins. The platform has completely tokenized its credit card credits, transferring all Visa transaction settlements to USDC. Users are now able to make payments with their Visa cards 24/7, 365 days a year.
Rain provides a robust backend infrastructure featuring APIs, compliance layers, and settlement logic that enables FinTechs and digital wallets to create and launch credit card programs connected to stablecoins. As global demand for real-time payments grows, Rain is experiencing significant interest from partners wanting to issue and utilize on-chain credit cards, facilitating stablecoin transactions efficiently.
Stablecoin Settlements Available Daily
With Rain's proprietary settlement stack, all authorization and on-chain settlement logic is integrated, allowing interoperability between Visa card transactions and stablecoins across various blockchains. When users make purchases using a Visa card issued by Rain, Visa processes the payment as usual with the merchant buyer. Rain cleverly leverages stablecoins to facilitate settlements every day of the week, thereby redefining typical banking hours.
Tokenized Credit Management
Furthermore, Rain's platform has completed the tokenization of its credit card credits. This innovation not only creates a more efficient capital management system but also enhances transparency within the ecosystem, allowing fintechs to bring new products to market more swiftly. Consumers gain access to globally interoperable and digitally-oriented transaction experiences through Rain's solutions.
Rain is also making headlines with its world-first initiative to fund closed-loop credit card credits using stablecoins. The platform collaborates with a network of capital partners, borrowing stablecoins to streamline the settlement of credit card credits. By borrowing from creditors and programmatically repaying them, Rain has achieved a reduction in the total capital costs associated with consumer and B2B credit programs. This offers creditors superior collateral access and contractual repayments based on smart contracts.
Enhancing Global Payment Solutions
"Thanks to our participation in Visa's USDC settlement program, we can now facilitate transactions all year round, extending our capabilities beyond traditional banking hours. The USDC settlement process allows us to remain capital-efficient while decreasing the need for excessive collateral, all while providing our counterparts the same level of protection," emphasized
Farooq Malik, CEO and co-founder of Rain.
Meanwhile,
Rubail Birwadker, Visa's Growth Product and Partnership Lead, stated: "Transporting money across borders has always been complicated, but blockchain technology and stablecoins are helping to change that. Our collaboration with Rain fosters on-chain payments and enables seven-day settlement, a significant step towards simplifying global transactions."
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Rain is continually exploring ways to enhance the utility of stablecoins. Its independent resource settlement stack and blockchain authorization allow for an entirely on-chain credit system. This commitment signals a shift towards a more efficient, transparent, and accessible financial ecosystem that minimizes capital circulation, reduces fraud, and enhances operational outcomes.
As a
Visa Principal Member, Rain offers seamlessly integrated payment solutions at over 150 million merchants worldwide accepting Visa transactions. By employing stablecoins for automated daily settlements with the Visa network, Rain is doubling down on its mission to blend blockchain technology with traditional financial systems, achieving perfect interoperability for everyday use cases involving digital assets.
