Ramaco Resources Celebrates Brook Mine's New 5-Year Mining Permit Approval and Expansion Plans

Ramaco Resources Celebrates Permit Approval for Brook Mine

On July 29, 2025, Ramaco Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ: METC, METCB) announced that its Brook Mine has received a second five-year mining permit from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. This new permit allows the company to continue coal mining and reclamation operations across an area of approximately 4,548.8 acres, situated north of Sheridan, Wyoming. This milestone highlights Ramaco’s ongoing commitment to responsible resource development and environmental stewardship in the region.

The approval signifies that the Brook Mine is fully compliant with all regulatory requirements, ensuring that mining activities can proceed under state authority. Furthermore, this new five-year authorization instills confidence among stakeholders about Ramaco's capability to effectively manage the Brook Mine and achieve its operational goals.

Highlighting its significance, on July 11, a diverse group including coal miners, local community leaders, industry stakeholders, and government officials celebrated the inauguration of the Brook Mine's Carbon Ore Rare Earth project. This project is historic in that it marks the establishment of the first new rare earth mine in the United States in over 70 years and the first new coal mine in Wyoming in more than five decades. The capacity to mine and refine rare earth materials domestically is critical for the nation’s strategic efforts to diminish reliance on foreign critical minerals vital for defense and technology needs, as well as for advancements in clean energy.

Adding to this momentum, earlier in the year, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon sanctioned a $6.1 million grant from the Wyoming Energy Authority to help set up a pilot-scale processing facility at the Brook Mine. Construction is slated to commence later this year, further augmenting the mine's capabilities to refine materials effectively.
