Seatrium Limited and Karpowership recently marked a significant milestone in the energy sector with the successful launch of the LNGT Türkiye. This vessel represents the culmination of an ambitious eight-year program to convert seven conventional LNG carriers into Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs). This journey, initiated in 2018 at Seatrium's Admiralty Yard, is a testament to partnership, innovation, and commitment to advancing global energy solutions.

The original program was aimed at not just modifying ships but transforming them into integral components of Karpowership's integrated LNG-to-Power solution. The seven FSRUs—LNGT Africa, LNGT Asia, LNGT Europe, LNGT Antarctica, LNGT Americas, LNGT Oceania, and LNGT Türkiye—will support clean energy efforts across four continents.

Each conversion required advanced engineering solutions to integrate cryogenic systems, maritime technology, and gas handling operability into the vessels. This complexity was met with resilience and expertise from the combined teams of Karpowership and Seatrium.

The achievement of LNGT Türkiye is particularly noteworthy as it symbolizes the last project undertaken at Seatrium’s Admiralty Yard, set to be returned to authorities by 2028. Alvin Gan, Executive Vice President of Repairs and Upgrades at Seatrium, expressed, “The completion of this program strengthens Seatrium’s leadership in FSRU conversions and offshore energy infrastructure solutions.” While Seatrium has already completed over 90% of FSRU and FSU conversions worldwide, they continue to push forward with new technologies and energy solutions, solidifying their commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

The conversion program has not only enhanced Karpowership’s operational fleet of Powerships, which are deployed globally to provide reliable electricity but also plays a significant role in delivering clean gas to floating power plants.
