Yoshimi Landemaine's First Art Exhibition in Japan: 'Terre en vie'

Yoshimi Landemaine's Art Exhibition in Japan

The renowned artist Yoshimi Landemaine, known for her exquisite connection to nature and sustainability, is set to host her first-ever art exhibition in Japan titled 'Terre en vie' from September 16 to 23, 2025. This exciting event will take place at gallery晴れ-南青山 in the Minato Ward of Tokyo.

With 30 years of self-taught experience in painting, Yoshimi has developed a strong artistic voice, drawing inspiration from nature. Over the past decade, she has further honed her skills by studying under various artists in Paris and gained significant recognition through her previous solo exhibition in the Marais district of Paris in June 2025.

Theme and Featured Works

The theme of the exhibition, 'Terre en vie' — which translates to 'Living Earth' — captures the essence of Yoshimi's life-long engagement with the environment. The showcase will include over 30 works that reflect her deep appreciation for nature. Notable pieces such as 'Crépuscule sur les Champs' (Twilight over the Fields) and 'Les légumes en vie' (Living Vegetables) emphasize her unique perspective on the natural world. Yoshimi's series of vegetable artworks, using vibrant hues, embodies her vegetarian lifestyle and the beauty of organic produce sourced from her friends in Normandy.

In a compelling twist, while traditional art often labels still life as 'Nature morte' (Dead Nature), Yoshimi prefers to refer to her work as 'Nature vivante' (Living Nature), reinforcing her belief in the vitality and beauty of the natural environment.

Commitment to Sustainability

Alongside her artistic endeavors, Yoshimi, in collaboration with her husband Rodolphe Landemaine, is dedicated to environmental preservation. Since 2018, they have been engaged in various initiatives, including the restoration of 200 hectares of land in Normandy. Their efforts aim to eliminate negative impacts on agriculture and ecosystems, promoting a sustainable lifestyle. This commitment to environmental stewardship not only enhances her artwork but also serves as a vital message for future generations on the importance of protecting our planet.

Artistic Journey

Yoshimi's artistic path began at the age of five with calligraphy, a skill she engaged with until she was 26. After a transformative period in her life, she rediscovered her passion for painting and returned to her artistic roots. She pursued self-learning in art from age 30 to 50, eventually enrolling in the Atelier des petites écuries in Paris at the age of 50, where she learned from numerous artists and developed her unique style.

In addition to her artwork, Yoshimi contributes her design expertise to the branding of Maison Landemaine, her bakery group. From 2024, she will expand her artistic education by studying world art history at the prestigious Ecole de Louvre.

Art Exhibition Details

The upcoming exhibition will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily from September 17 to 23, with a special opening event on September 16, which will feature live performances by Yoshimi's son, a guitarist from the band McGrady. Due to limited capacity, attendance at the opening event will require prior reservation. The event is designed not only to showcase Yoshimi’s artwork but also to foster an intimate experience for guests to engage with her creative vision.

Original merchandise, including postcards, organic cotton tote bags, and T-shirts, will be available for purchase during the exhibition, providing a unique opportunity to own a piece of Yoshimi's artistic journey.

Conclusion

Yoshimi Landemaine’s 'Terre en vie' promises to be a remarkable celebration of art, nature, and sustainability. This exhibition marks a significant milestone in her career and presents a chance to witness the enchanting world she has created through her artistic lens. As she continues on her journey as an emerging artist, Yoshimi looks forward to sharing her message and the beauty of art with the people of Japan.
