Consumers Energy Launches Summer Appliance Recycling Events

Specifically, qualifying electric customers will earn $50 for recycling a refrigerator or freezer, while those recycling additional appliances like air conditioning units, dehumidifiers, and compact refrigerators will receive $15 each. This initiative is a part of their ongoing efforts to help households save on energy costs, as older appliances can consume up to three times more energy than newer models.

According to sources, such as EnergyStar.gov, households could potentially save up to $150 annually on energy bills by participating in the recycling program. It is estimated that since the inception of the appliance recycling initiative in 2009, over 330,000 large appliances have been successfully recycled by Consumers Energy, indicating the program's popularity and its positive environmental impact.
