Tokyo Haneda Vickies Collaborate on Youth Basketball Clinic in Shizuoka

On November 29, 2025, Mizu-ing AM, a subsidiary of Mizu-ing Co., Ltd., organized a basketball clinic in Fujieda City, Shizuoka, in partnership with the Tokyo Haneda Vickies. The event aimed to support and enhance sports opportunities for the youth.

Event Overview

The basketball clinic was designed for junior high school students, providing them the opportunity to learn directly from former professional players and coaches from the Tokyo Haneda Vickies Basketball Academy. This initiative is part of Mizu-ing's ongoing commitment to community involvement and fostering the healthy development of the next generation.

Purpose and Background

Mizu-ing Co., Ltd. emphasizes the importance of community engagement through sports. The collaboration with the Tokyo Haneda Vickies aims to nurture the physical and mental well-being of the youth while enhancing their sports experiences. By participating in such clinics, students can discover their untapped potential and receive personalized feedback on their skills from seasoned athletes.

The basketball clinic, in essence, serves as a ‘sports clinic’ where young athletes can consult about their practice methods, much like seeing a doctor for a medical issue. The term 'clinic' indicates a place for improvement and support, providing a comfortable environment for learning.

Clinic Activities

Date and Venue

  • - Date: November 29, 2025 (Saturday), 09:30 – 11:45
  • - Location: Fujieda Municipal Hirohata Middle School Gymnasium (Address: 602 Kamitoma, Fujieda City)

Participants

  • - Attendees: 25 boys and 32 girls from local middle school basketball teams.

Instructors

  • - Naho Mizuno:
- Education: Graduated from Meisei Gakuen High School and Tokyo Medical and Health University.
- Career: Played for Yamanashi Queen Bees (2017-2022) and joined Tokyo Haneda Vickies (2022-2025).

  • - Eiji Yamamoto:
- Education: Graduated from Kurume High School and Salem-Teikyo University (WV).
- Coaching Experience: Has coached teams such as Nishinomiya Storks, Earth Friends Tokyo, and the Tokyo Haneda Vickies U15 team.

The clinic began with preparatory exercises focused on core awareness. Instructors encouraged participants to recognize the muscles they were using during each movement. The warming-up session included games that combined dribbling and rock-paper-scissors, bringing smiles and laughter to the gymnasium.

As they progressed, students practiced fundamental techniques such as passing, shooting movements, dribbling speed, and direction changes, receiving specific guidance from instructors along the way.

Reflections on the Practice

Reflecting on the day, Yamamoto told the students, “Your growth depends on your self-awareness. Accumulating successful experiences and appreciating those moments are vital. The ‘power position’ we practiced is essential not only in basketball but in other sports too, so make sure to master it.”

Mizuno encouraged participants, “Don’t give up on things you couldn’t accomplish today. With practice, you will surely improve. Always keep the desire to get better alive within you.”

Feedback from the students highlighted the wider impact of the clinic: “Learning to be aware of which parts of the body I use in warming up has parallels in my studies; paying attention to small details is crucial.”

Mizu-ing Group's Commitment to Education

Since July 2018, the Mizu-ing group has been working in collaboration with the Shida Wide Area Office for regional contribution projects, continuing to organize basketball clinics for local middle school students. This was the fifth iteration of the program, demonstrating a sustained commitment to youth engagement.
