SEGULA Technologies Unveils REMORA Stack: The New Era of Industrial Energy Storage
SEGULA Technologies Introduces REMORA Stack
As industries continue to seek sustainable and efficient energy solutions, SEGULA Technologies has unveiled an innovative product called the REMORA Stack. This new energy storage system is designed to play a pivotal role in the transition towards renewable energy by providing robust storage capabilities for both industrial sites and various infrastructures such as eco-districts and shopping centers.
A Game-Changer for Energy Storage
The REMORA Stack represents a unique advancement in energy storage technology, utilizing a patented isothermal air compression method. Each unit is housed in a standard 12-meter long shipping container, which makes it a practical option for outdoor installations. These containers are engineered to capture and store surplus energy generated from renewable sources such as solar panels and wind turbines. In periods of lower energy production, the system can release this stored energy efficiently, with a notable efficacy rate of 70%. Notably, the REMORA system is designed to have a lifespan of over 30 years, generating zero pollution, which sets it apart from traditional battery storage systems that often rely on less durable materials and rare resources.
Modular and Scalable Technology
One of the standout features of REMORA Stack is its modular design, which provides exceptional flexibility for customization. The storage capacity can be adjusted according to the compressor's size and the volume of compressed air, allowing for independent modifications of these two parameters. This flexibility means that as energy storage needs grow, additional containers can be added without the need to replace the existing compressor, ultimately resulting in a more economical solution that can easily adapt to the specific demands of manufacturers.
David Guyomarc'h, the Director of the REMORA project and Research & Development Manager at SEGULA Technologies, highlighted the hands-on approach taken during the development phase: "We've been focusing on the REMORA technology and its real-world applications for nearly a decade. The REMORA Stack, specifically designed for industrial use, has undergone extensive testing with successive demonstrators, yielding very promising outcomes. Our ultimate goal is for REMORA Stack to store energy for over ten hours without relying on rare earths or lithium, ensuring a sustainable and straightforward solution for industries."
Project Timeline and Future Prospects
In line with the European Air4NRG collaborative project, which is funded by the EU, SEGULA Technologies and its partners are moving forward with the development of test facilities to validate the REMORA Stack in real-world environments. These pilot projects are essential for affirming its efficacy and refining the technology prior to industrial deployment. The first pilot is slated for 2026, with plans for rollouts of the initial production units targeted for 2028-2029.
The REMORA Stack technology is not just an innovation but an evolution of the original REMORA system, which was intended for underwater storage of renewable energy. With the introduction of unique variations like REMORA Stack for large-scale storage and REMORA Home for individual customers, SEGULA Technologies is poised to make substantial contributions to sustainable energy practices.
In summary, the launch of the REMORA Stack signifies a decisive step towards equipping industries with the tools needed to transition to a greener, more sustainable energy infrastructure. As testing and implementation processes progress, industries can look forward to integrating this groundbreaking technology into their operations, paving the way for a cleaner energy future.
