Unlocking Reading Skills: Kids Duo’s Autumn School Offers Fun Learning Journey
The quest to enhance reading skills in children can be a daunting task, especially with the recent shifts in educational requirements. The Kids Duo® program, managed by the Yaru Ki Switch Group, is launching its exciting Autumn School, a unique initiative that aims to develop English reading abilities while engaging children through fun challenges related to monsters.
Running in September and October, this special two-session program is designed for children from preschool to high school. With the increasing focus on the four essential skills of English—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—this program fills a crucial gap by emphasizing phonics. Children often find themselves struggling with reading and writing as they transition through school, and Kids Duo aims to bridge that gap.
Exploring Phonics Through Fun
Phonics, the method of teaching reading by correlating sounds with letters or groups of letters, serves as the cornerstone of this program. The Kids Duo Autumn School is cleverly crafted to assist children in understanding the rules of English sounds and letters, fostering independent reading skills they can carry forward. The program integrates the excitement of Halloween into its curriculum, allowing kids to learn phonics in an engaging and playful manner.
The Theme: 'Monster Carnival!'
This year’s theme, 'MONSTER CARNIVAL! Have You Lost Your Way Here?' invites children into an adventure filled with mystery and excitement. Participants will receive invitations to this carnival scenario where they need to gather stamps while participating in various games. Through these games, they will receive both input and output practice in phonics, thereby strengthening their learning experiences.
The program comprises two main steps:
1.
Explore the Carnival - In this initial phase, kids will explore the quirky carnival, boosting their speaking and reading skills through interactive activities.
2.
Escape the Carnival - In the second phase, to escape from the clutches of a looming monster, they'll need to work together, collecting hints to enhance their reading and writing abilities. This natural progression through listening to speaking, and then onward to reading and writing ensures that children are effectively connecting sounds and letters.
The initiative allows kids to broaden their interest in English through enjoyable activities that provide foundational learning opportunities.
