CaringKind Celebrates 30 Years of the Forget-Me-Not Gala with Star-Studded Event
30th Anniversary of the Forget-Me-Not Gala
On June 8, 2026, CaringKind commemorated the 30th anniversary of its quintessential Forget-Me-Not Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. This significant event, which has become a beacon of hope and support for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia, was highlighted by the presentation of prestigious awards to notable personalities. The Connect2Hope Award was presented to Jane Seymour, an Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress, artist, and humanitarian, recognizing her deep commitment to the dementia community.
In a fitting tribute, the Connect2Impact Award was bestowed upon Jeffrey N. Jones, a retired KPMG Partner who has also served as Board Co-Chair, reflecting the high caliber of individuals that have come together for this cause. The evening was orchestrated by the talented David Hyde Pierce, an actor and passionate advocate for Alzheimer’s care, who returned as Master of Ceremonies.
The gala raised over $1.7 million this year through the generosity of attendees and sponsors, which directly supports the crucial programs led by CaringKind that provide education, guidance, and resources for those grappling with dementia. For nearly five decades, CaringKind has supported families facing cognitive changes, offering clinical advice, training, and emotional assistance without cost.
The event began with a cocktail reception featuring healthy cuisine tailored for brain health, created in collaboration with Magnolia 'Meals at Home' and Eisai, spotlighting the necessity of nutrition in dementia care. Guests indulged in culinary delights while networking and learning about meal strategies beneficial for those living with Alzheimer’s and related conditions.
As the evening unfolded, the spirit of compassion filled the room—embodied in powerful speeches by the honorees. Jane Seymour passionately described her motivation for philanthropy, inspired by her mother’s journey with dementia. She discussed her foundation, Open Hearts, which backs over sixty charitable organizations. Seymour reflected on how her various creative projects—such as serving as executive producer on the documentary Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me—have humanized the disease and communicated the challenges faced by families. Her heartfelt remarks resonated with many in the audience who share similar experiences.
David Hyde Pierce, known for his role on Frasier, also took to the stage, re-emphasizing the significance of support for caregivers. He stated, “The job of a caretaker is one that sometimes requires support, and CaringKind is guaranteed to be there for those who need them.” His heartfelt acknowledgment of CaringKind’s dedication highlighted the organization's unwavering commitment to bettering the lives of families affected by dementia.
The urgency of the cause is palpable. Currently, around 7.4 million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s, a figure expected to reach nearly 13 million by 2050. This means that the responsibilities of caregiving are increasingly falling on family members, reflecting the growing need for supportive services that CaringKind continues to provide.
The gala concluded with lively music and dancing, wrapping up a night dedicated not only to fundraising but to celebrating the shared experiences that come with walking alongside those impacted by dementia. These efforts remind us that every individual deserves dignity and support throughout their journey, and CaringKind remains dedicated to this mission. Together, the gala attendees have made a collective impact that will augment the vital services CaringKind offers.
As the community looks ahead to the next 30 years, the commitment to Alzheimer's care and support will only strengthen, ensuring that no one faces this journey alone. The evening wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated sponsors and supporters, whose contributions ensure that Compassion thrives in the face of adversity.
